I hate extra parts, any guesses to what this is???

I was convinced that my Cobra was built using those little mechanical robotic parts that could mate and have baby bolts and nuts. There were always pieces and parts under the car and in most cases, I could never find where they came from. I did drop a small wrench one time that magically appeared on the garage floor but I could never figure out where it fell.
