... and you shouldn't be. But you owe it to yourself to just try out the QR hub while you're visiting. It's virtually invisible -- it's almost like a magic trick when you put your hands on the sides of the column, your finger tips seek out the hidden latch, and *poof*, like magic, the wheel just comes off like it was never attached at all.
Working under the driver side portion of the dash is 1000% easier with the steering wheel out of the car. Plus, you will find that you do not want your steering wheel to be positioned perfectly plum straight when you're driving down the highway. Doing that tends to block your gauges. You have to have a trial and error period to find exactly where you want your wheel, but having a QR hub on there makes doing that as easy as pie.

Man, you are good
"But you owe it to yourself "
"you do not want...."
A guy like you came to my house once and now I have an over priced vacuum cleaner. BUT, I can say, its nice.
In all seriousness, keep it coming, I love different perspectives.
Yes! you are correct, I was trying to replace a brake light switch on my ///M the other day, and realized I AM NOT 20 years old anymore.
But, im going to stick with the old school bolt on steering wheel.
Oh, BTW, I have over 100 posts now, my opinion is almost valid.

Working under the dash is not so bad when the steering wheel and seat are out of the car, but when they're in there, you have to lie on your back with your legs up and over the top of the seat and your head under the dash. It's a PITA.

We will all be happy to help you spend your money and help you through the pain process. We've all been there.

Well, since the Nasdaq is down 4% and S&P down 3%, we all have less money today to buy English parts.
Back on topic, the 390 is great, but if you're anything like me, you'll eventually want something better. I actually started thinking of buying a 428, but I got sick and tired of looking at old POS boat anchors. And ponied up for an aluminum Shelby block, but they're like $7,000 today. That's a boatload of money.
No Roush. I'd research it.

I had not heard about Shelby losing their foundry. I'm sure there is a story there. I'm pretty sure some folks still have a few in stock. And no, they ain't cheap!

Yes, they're now referring to it as a "lostry."

Yea, I am socializing the idea of a 427 Shelby block based build. I was just on the phone with an engine builder who said it basically takes $20 to start. He also said, Shelby is "plum out" of Aluminum blocks, because they lost their foundry....he said they are contemplating outsourcing to Korea. I don't know how true that is, but most of the other "American Made" stuff is made there, soooo that wouldn't be a shocker.
Anyway, 20k seems low after looking at Roush.
390 is looking better every day......but hen again, it is an ERA....decisions..decisions.

IMHO your ERA needs to have a 427 or 428! I think Patrick and others would agree. And not a Rousch.
I will keep my radar on for any good blocks. They pop up all the time.
Good luck on this journey. It's all part of the experience!

428 Iron Blocks are out there, just place a WTB on 332-428 Ford FE Engine Forum but only buy from one of the regulars.

For example, this 427 block: FordFE.com Classifieds: x4rdtech and I would be quite comfortable buying a block from Bobby Spears sight unseen.

Yes, I agree, 427 is the "goal". I was using Roush as an example of price. For a while, I was thinking of a 427 Chevy......but then I woke up.

What's the going price for a 428 IB?
