We went ahead and installed a mobil one filter. It fits, however, there is not much room in between the filter and x-brace in front of it. Has anyone had issues with the filter rubbing up against this brace?

Default Filter Choice

If I can find the article I will post the reference. The study, for Z06 Corvettes, recommended the best filter as Mobil I. The Mobil I also happens to be the most expensive, but only a few dollars.

Minor, when considering the total investment in the engine etc.

Default OIL FILTER STUDY

http://www.frankhunt.com/FRANK/corve...lterstudy.html

The site may be on a temporary shutdown: There may be other studies on the Corvette Forum, will search

PS: If anyone is using an Apple Power Mac G4 with OS 10.2.3 and the MAC version of Internet Explorer, please e-mail me. Had to go back to the PC to correct this post.

Brent: Any known problems using the above ?

Thumbs up I just changed my oil and filter at 400 miles

K & N gold (it's a white can for some reason now, K&N # 3001) and Valvoline 20/50 racing oil, a standard non-synthetic for break in. My oil pressure jumped by 10 PSI hot, and stays higher longer !

I am not sure how much contamination my oil took, so that might be the culprit in the lower oil PSI, or it could have been improper wt oil as delivered. .. I had something small stuck in my secondary needle/seat, it was flooding out my carb at idle !

Initially, PSI cold= 75 PSI hot (200 to 210F) = 45 to 50 psi

NOW, after the change:
PSI cold = 80 PSI "hot" = 50-60 !

As posted on the Corvette Forum, C5 Tech/Performance by TouringPro from an inquiry I made earlier today

http://minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html Russ Knize's study. Probably the most widely known and qouted. Responsible for most anti-Fram sentiment.

http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml Here is another guy that took the 'ol Dremel to a bunch of filters and posted his observations.

http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...c;f=6;t=000513 Still a work in progress at the bobistheoilguy.com forum. May turn out to be the definitive study when it's finished.

http://www.masterra.net/oil/ I just came across this one the other day. Nice pics.

Does somebody want to rank the filters from 1 to 10 ?
