Default Wiring in a Starter Button

Bob,
I have asked about this before, and you sent me a nice little diagram, but that was before our hardrive decided to quit. Do you still have the picture that you made that illustrates how wire a starter button into the ignition switch. If I remember correctly it was the st and bat terminals that were involved, but dangerous things happen when I trust my memory. Any help would be appreciated.

Run one wire from ignition switch to the button,(power)on the other side
run a wire to your neutral saftey switch and then to the starter

When you say ignition switch, do you mean the ignition post on the ignition switch? Also, I assume the neutral safety switch is open if in gear and closed only when in neutral. Either way, we don't have one wired in to our harness. I am sure this setup would work, but I remember bob having a little easier way to do it. I did a continuity test and found a half ohm between both the ign - st and bat - st terminals on the ignition switch with the starter engaged (battery was not hooked up though). Could I run two wires from the ign and bat to one post on the button and run the other post back to the st terminal?

Ike,

Sorry - at home so no diagram today...

If you want to be able to crank the engine with the ignition OFF:
Run a wire from the BAT terminal of the ignition switch to the starter button.
Remove the wire from the ST terminal of the ignition switch and attach to the other side of the starter button.

If you want to be able to crank the engine only when the ignition is ON:
Run a wire from the IGN or ACC terminal of the ignition switch to the starter button.
Remove the wire from the ST terminal of the ignition switch and attach to the other side of the starter button.

I think option 1 wouldn't be a bad idea. That way we can crank it over a couple of times and make sure we have oil pressure. Thank you very much.

Oh yeah, after we get the ignition switch in, IT'S DONE!!!!
