Lots of ways to handle that area.

Remember that Ford went to breathers in the valve covers many years ago for a reason - vapors and moisture travel and accumulate at the highest point in the engine. That would be the valve covers.

Every engine needs some way to vent gases. A PCV reduces leakage tendencies and is a nice addition on a show engine. Race engines don't like the potential for oil mist introduction into the A/F mixture.

We've used PCVs back there - they work OK but are better in the valve cover. If you choose to run a PCV remember you need a way to get clean air INTO the crankcase as well.

We've run a welded up little K&N style element on top of a breather basket which works well and is unobtrusive when cosmetics are important.

We've run the factory style tall breather casting - a readily available Blue Thunder part which has been pictured. It also works OK, but can interfere with certain vehicle firewall/air pan/air filter combinations.
