You only have to see how the header pipes in a Mustang w/FE wrap around the starter and compare that to the relatively open area of a Cobra to see what I mean. I, and I know of quite a few others, are running OEM type starters with no problems what so ever. I also made my own ground and starter cables using #1 welding cable just to make sure that I'd have no amperage drop off. I've gotta say, if it works, it works.

Forgot to mention that I'm running a QT bellhousing as well.

If you do end up cutting the block spacer just bolt the spacer to the block without the bellhousing and scribe the cutout in the block for the starter to the spacer or you can bolt the starter to the spacer and do the same thing. Don't throw away the piece you cut out. You may change starters or flywheels some other time and the part you cut out can still be used as a spacer, it will give the starter full contact between the bellsousing and starter housing.

If you know someone with a band saw this won't be that hard.

Hopefully this won't be the case.

Patrick T Pat I like the holidays. Yesterday at 3:40 pm in front of my house a cube truck hit a mini van taxi. 13 year old girl got her teeth knocked out and jaw broken because her stupid father had her sitting on a box without a seat belt and hit the van and then a tree. Her face hit the dash, her knee hit the lower dash and opened her up to the bone. The driver in the van was less lucky with her left arm being sliced open to the bone and just missing the artery. I had to flip over the skin to slow the bleeding. She was about 300 pounds and alot of fat. This saved her life. Air bags blew and burnt her face. It took 45 minutes to remove her from the van. 3 people went to the hospital. No body died and that's a good thing. That's how my easter went. Rick L. Ps dinner was cold by the time the mess was cleared up. I had to sweep the street for glass in my driveway. Great holiday.
