Hi there CLUB COBRA great site !!!!
I have a standard bore 427 side oiler service block. No repairs ,not broken ,all original, just the block , the caps are all there as well as the side bolts. It came out of a truck my cousin had about 30 years ago.its been sitting in the shop covered up since removed! If anyone is interested i would like to trade it for a pond block or genesis cast iron or aluminum block.Or possibly sale it. Pictures? Casting numbers? Not going to get much of a bite out of anyone (especially given what you want in an even trade) without at least the very basics of information.

If it's a post 67 block, it will not carry the same value as a 65,66,67 sideoiler NasCar block The 65-67's were designed to run @ 7,000+ rpm all day long. The 65-67 blocks were known as bullit proof blocksl, because they would & did run @ 7K++ rpm during races. After 67; the service sideoiler blocks showed up mostly in trucks & other heavy duty equip, & would accecpt roller rocker, unlike the NasCar blocks wich were flat tappet designed only. The service blocks would also max rpm out @ about 6,500 rpm & never produced the kind of power the older blocks did. Thus they don't carry the same value as a older model block. IMO; I would perfer a early 427 center oiler over a service block. The metal content of the post 67 blocks just doesn't match up to the older blocks. Good luck w/your sale.

Default 427 fe

well i got the 427 side oiler block out it has no casting numbers on it and no ribs like my other 428 service block does its standard bore never been blown up oil pan rails and inside of block look like new looks like the date code is 8m10 i think thats December 10,1968 so its a juice block.which if i go ahead and use it it will work out great because i have t&d valve train on my drag race motor so it oils thru the pushrods .This is a cherry block .THANKS DAD for letting me use it or sale it or trade it. I want to post pics but im not at home now .Can someone please advise on how to load pics to the site thanks in advance also can anyone tell me if its a service block from the info i have provided ?????

Those spacers should be inside the webbing against the main caps. Not outside the block under the bolt heads. You have exposed threads showing into the caps. And each spacer's thickness has to match the gap exactly-every one may be different.

putting the spacers there when the block has no crank in it and the caps are not torqued down is how i store the spacers too.... it keeps them with there respective spots.....i'm sure its not where he thinks they go but rather a safe spot to keep them since its just shy of a press fit between the cap and skirt......

i also double it by marking them #R and #L too with paint pen

Yes guys I know where the spacers go lol. Just had the sonic check done this morning. The bore looks great. Will probably clean at. 005 according to my machinist. I think I'm going to sale it and put the money towards a pond block. It's for my drag race car and I would really hate to destroy such a great 427 side oiler. Thanks to all for your input :-) I will accept offers just pm me thanks again.
