They're not that common around here.
I'm not at all infatuated with the "green" aspect of the car, but I'm definitely in love with the torque and the acceleration.

Really? Pretty much ever Le Mans run engine was Alu, and IIRC the occasional may have even been a Magnesium block
I don't mind me a seasoned IRON block, but if ALU was that bad surely the I wouldn't be able to quote the expert that said - "they make Coyote's & LS7s out of Aluminium don't they?"

I see a few from time to time in LA. However, in Seattle they seem to be everywhere. Which I guess makes sense....

Well, to be fair, every LeMans engine was a product of millions of dollars of R&D with OEM style engineering. A repop FE block isn't designed/built with those same standards (or budget), plus it's just that....a repop of a 45 year old engine design.

Naah, we're talking old farts discussing FE's only. No fancy Le Mans stuff. In fact, nothing fancy at all. Just old crap. Now, they also preferred a nice iron block that had forty or fifty years worth of heat cycles, too.

Some one say electric car...?
My next project will be electric... I was thinking CJ jeep.
I've refrained from posting about this in the past for fear of spooking the masses.
Electric Mustang - man can that thing boogie... Range is still an issue though.
Zombie Specs
Enjoy

A true "seasoned" iron block, STD bore and a 10/10 crank or less. Now just go find one!!

I have a few hooks in the water; but i like to see more than a few finished products. Anyone can get lucky once.
Peter recommended a guy in CT, who is obviously solid. If all else fails i will end up going with him.

Maybe you can invite him over to play with your Hot Wheels set and you can persuade him to build an FE.

The "shifts like butter" is inside joke between Bernica and I. He loves his Toploader as do some others. OTOH I think not having a Tremec TKO600 5-speed is just a little bit strange and limiting in today's world, where, as an example, you can buy a brand new side-oiler block for $3,600.
And they invented these hand-carried phones that can fit in your pocket and takes pictures and video too.
