Need help with identification of crank
I have heard a few different stories on the model of this particular crank. Please help me identify it.
It has the $ mark and I understand that it is normal to have the codes ground off on some cranks. All the measurement and drill holes make it look like a 427 but is there another way to tell?

Yeah!, stand it on end and tap it lightly
(with a small hammer) on one of the throws, a nice long ring says it's steel and not cracked.

I'm no FE expert but going by the width of that parting line it's definitely forged and not cast. It is a twisted forging though, if you note the parting line is along the edge of the big end throws. The crank is flat when they forge it then they heat it and twist it so the throws are in the right phases.
A lot of modern forgings are "non twist" this means the die that the stamp it into has the journals all in the right phases already. This leaves a more consistent grain flow through the forging making it stronger. The twisted forging is still much stronger than a cast crank.

What you have there is a '65 and up forged steel 427 medium riser/tunnel port crank.
The $ sign and hollow rod journals with plugs are sure signs.
Looks pretty cherry too
