Mild FE with F/I running 700ft. lbs Torque?
In a recent conversation with a friend that builds/repairs performance cars...he told me about a dyno of a local engine tuner that built a mild 10.0:1, 280Dur-Adv./580Lift (very smooth idling) type cammed FE, with well-ported heads and custom-built fuel injection. The motor produced just a tad over 700ft. lbs of torque on a dyno. Apparently it was a very mild sounding, smooth idling, and very driveable FE. I have no direct proof of this information, but it does sound interesting...
And, many of us go for big cams and push compression limits on our FEs to get more power/torque, yet this other guy can build a milder FE with fuel injection and produce some big torque numbers; and the customer reportedly drives it like its an easy daily driver.
... just curious to learn what the important factors really are from others, and whats not so important to do. Obviously, the custom F/I setup that was used had something to do with it but I still can't get over the mild cam and lower compression used with these type of numbers....
Question:
Has anyone out here performed testing with milder FEs and produced this type of dyno result using fuel injection or other build tricks?
