What Am I Forgetting???
This Friday we (Mickmate, Jeff G and I) will cut off the sbf frame mounts and weld the bbf mounts on, then we are going to install the drivetrain.
What kind of bolts do I need for the Alum. flyweel? Grade 8 or Grade 5? I haven't looked in the box for the RAM clutch, but I guessing the bolts are included. If not, what bolts are needed for that, grade 8 or 5?
Here is what I have to do the install:
1. engine
2. TKO tranny
3. QT Bellhousing (bolts included-yes)
4. Fidanza Alum flywheel (bolts included-no)
5. Ram clutch (bolts included-don't know)
6. Frame mounts
7. Motor mounts
8. RobbMc bellhousing dowels to dial in bh.
WHAT AM I FORGETTING??? I want to get this right the first time as we are on limited time.

I'll answer my own question so I don't forget this. Butt in and let me know if I get it wrong!
• Acetone to wipe down flywheel before installing clutch
• Locktight (which kind?)
• Paint for chassis work areas
• Grinder
• Tig welder
• plasma cutter
• 1/4" steel plate for Tremec trans cross member mod (anyone got the measurements for this?)

I went through 5 sets of motor mounts before Roger sent me the ones that work. Ask Tim what he recommends.

Hey John,
Tim G. sent me motor mounts with the frame mounts.
Can you think of anything else I will need for Friday.
Thanks!

There is a metal ring with holes for the flywheel bolts that is typically used with a flexplate in a automatic traansmission. If used with an aluminum flywheel it helps prevent the bolt heads from tearing up the aluminum. I highly reccommend it. Use application specific bolts, such as ARP or McLeod, not grade 8 Hardware bolts. Use red locktite.

I would recommend buying a flywheel bolt kit. I wouldn't use just some bolts from the hardware store. A set of ARP flywheel bolts for an FE is only like $35 at summit.

First off go with grade 8 bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate. Secoundly Ram does not include bolts with there clutches you will need to get those. As for the locktite, I would go with the red. I am sure you know this but I will state it anyways do not use an impact on the pressure plate bolts you can warp it. It sounds like you have your ducks in a row on your install, another captain obvious response but make sure you have all the proper safety gear to go with the tools you are planning on useing, i.e. safety glasses, gloves. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Pressure Plate bolts ordered from Summit
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...2D2201&FROM=MG
Flywheel bolts coming as well. They were only $10.95. The $35 ones are for a Tilton flywheel...I was told by Summit.

You got the little tool that lets you align your disc and pressure plate up properly?

You'll be ok. I just prefer to use blue on smaller fasteners. Red will sometimes cause it to be locked in so tight that you break the head of the bolt off trying to get it out.
I've always used blue and have never had a bit of problems. But I'm sure red will be fine.

Also, if you plan on putting the engine/trans in together, I'd have a plug for the rear of the trans so you don't get pretty red fluid all over the floor.
Do you have your slave cylinder? Sometimes you have to drill a larger hole in the clutch fork for the pushrod...it's easier to do out of the car.

What about a urethane tranny mount for my TKO? I am going to notch the trans cross member so I think a Toploader style mount will work.

Look in my gallery at the Fortes external slave setup. I'm guessing it is ready to go, but who knows!

What engine mounts are you using? You want to match or make the trans mount softer.
