Selling my 428 FE. 400 hp @ wheels.
(UPDATE ON PAGE 2)
Yep, selling my first pride & much joyed 428 FE, for a soon to be pride & enjoyed, 482 aluminum side oilier.
I'm having Keith Craft building me a aluminum 482 side oilier with some where around 625-650 HP/TQ so, I will be selling my 428 FE with 400 HP at the wheels. I have the build spec sheet and chassis dyno information. It will be sold as a long block ( ) minus, the water pump, covers, carb., distributor, wires ect. I think the Vic Jr. intake will be included and has been ceramic coated. I may be buying the Edelbrock RPM with the "ENDURASHINE" to go with my Pentroof valve covers.
Stock stroke-.060 over bore.
Hot Tank Cleaned
Shot Peened
Honed & Plate Honed
Magnafluxed
Sonic Tested
Forged Pistons. 10:3:1
Stock Rods & Crank. (machined)
Balanced Rotating Assembly with Flywheel.
Canton 7qt. racing oil pan.
Carb.- Barry Grant "Mighty Demon" 750 cfm. (annular)
I had Comp Cams grind me a solid flat tappet cam. I have the cam card.
252/260 @ 0.50
600 lift.
110 degree of lobe separation. Very lumpy, great sounding motor and good performing engine. Click on the you tube link below to hear it.
The heads are iron and were ported to the max. I'll see if I can find the flow bench numbers. The valve train are HS rollers that are shaft mounted with all new end stands. I rebuilt the engine in 2004. It is very strong running. I have new stainless pipes & muffler and I'm planning on putting the motor back on the dyno to see if my old one's were restrictive so, the HP/TQ numbers may go up, I'll see.
I sanded the block smooth and painted it my body color. You can scuff it down and paint any color you want.
Polished/Ceramic Coated Edelbrock Vic Jr. Intake.
Polished Intake Breather/Vent.
Polished Edelbrock FE Water Pump.
Polished Edelbrock FE Fuel Pump.
Polished FE Timing Cover.
Polished Pulleys.
Polished/ceramic coated Cobra air cleaner assembly
I have a Tremec 3550 and clutch/flywheel, that could also go with the engine for a decent price. This would be a great combo if your building a cobra or up-grading.
Here's a link of last years "Hot Rod Power Tour" in Kansas. I was feeling ill so I had two of my buddies drive her home. If you have very good stereo speakers on your computer, crank it up.

Call me for detailed information and we can talk price. As of this moment, I don't have a set price so, serious offers are welcome.
PM me for a phone number.
Thank you.

That's strange, it worked when I posted the link ?
Try this time. Scroll down a bit to the "Video", you'll see the car.

The viewer posted is one I like but, it's not my car ?
I clicked on the link I posted "You Tube" and it worked.
Also, I checked the price to sell my engine on Cobra Country and it's $150 for 3 months !
I have it listed here but, someone said the ads rarely get much attention.
Any better ideas ?

I always check the for sale ads here. Honestly I'd put a price on it your happy with. If you don't get any hits drop the price a little till you do. Or just tuck it away for a rainy day if you really don't have to sell it and feel you'll never get what you want for it.

Engines generally sell better when they are in something OR complete. Why pull those parts off and sell a long block?

Hello Jay, it will be a long block plus. Most engines are not sold with as many parts as I will be including. The engine is in my cobra now and can watch my video and hear it running. By the end of next week, I should have a full video, (more than what's on you tube now) idling, cruising and at highway speeds.
$7,000 OBO.

Just checking back, is anyone else interested ?
I had a call a while back from someone, but I don't remember who the gentleman was. At the time, my engine build fell through and now it may be possible again, so it's back up for sale.

Nope, I wish it would be.
I'm doing this build using sponsorships, like I do with the sprint car racing. I have several manufactures for parts already but, the cost of the aluminum block is the stalemate for now. I will have to sell the engine I have now before the KC aluminum 482 cu. build can happen.
I've talked to Keith several times about this engine, and we're shooting for a solid mechanical roller and apx. 600-650 HP/TQ, on pump gas.
I have 3 magazines very interested in this Keith Craft, "old school 60's version side oiler and the newer "all aluminum side oiler". It will be about the differences between the 2010 technology with the blocks, heads, rotating assembly, machining advances, parts and even the engine & chassis dyno's.
Photo's and video will be taken about the block, brand of parts and during assembly, to both explanations of the engine and chassis dyno statistics.
All of this build process and information, will also be on some websites, including "YouTube".
Stay tuned.

Here's another with my new stainless side pipes I'm making.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fuuIbkJjwI
Both are pretty low RPM's and nothing special. I made these to help sell the engine. I plan on some better videos this spring. I made a camcorder roll bar mount out of a aluminum Mickey Thompson big block connecting rod.

Well, I'm getting too excited about the 482 build and I need to sell my 428 FE before the build can start. (says the wifey) I believe it's worth the 7k I'm asking as it sits today, I have over 10 k invested. I will consider any serious offers. It's almost ready to run guys and it looks & runs great.
Look over the part list (1st post) photo's,video's and contact me for any questions.
Send me a PM or email for my phone number.
It will remain in the car until it's sold. (gotta drive it)
The valve covers now are Chrome "Pent Roof's"
Video's- (neither are high rpm, just for fun)

Although I believe it's worth every penny that I'm asking, I will consider any serious offers. It will be almost ready to run. I really need to sell it, because I can't build my "dream engine" until it does.
Is there any doubt that this motor is not worth 7k, or are times harder than I think ?
Somebody will buy a great looking & running engine for the price. It has won 4-"Best Engine" trophy's, and those were big shows, not some church parking show with limited cars. lol
On the "Hot Rod Power Tour" in KC, the car won "Best Ford Muscle". That was cool.
To the buyer, I will guarantee it runs as good as it does now in my cobra. I will also shoot a video of it running before I remove it. I'm as honest as possible about this great engine to sell it. If you have any questions, please ask.
I need some help guys.
Kev

Hey George, at least you have a sence of humor !
Ok, like salesmen say, "what can I do to get you out the door with it today".
I'm trying all I can to get it sold. It's a great motor and price.
If you can call, we can chat. 402-781-2322
Thanks bud,
Kev
