Default which 8 stack system to get?

I am switching out the weber 44IDF's on a 331 for 8 stack EFI in a Unique motorcars 289 that has a T56 magnum stuffed in it. The motor is a mild motor that was dynoed with the webers at 420hp and similar tq. I have narrowed the systems down to either the Borla system or the Inglese system. I am going to go the XFI route to be able to run sequential injection. The kits look similar with the fuel rails and injectors being the big differences. I cannot find any good images of the systems from multiple angles to tell any more differences.

Are the systems the same? Do they use the same center bellcrank? Is one system have advantages over the other? Has anyone used or seen both that can add comparative comments?

Any info to push me off the fence to 1 side would be helpful?

Thanks
Rob

Default 8 stack in a Unique

Here is a pic of an 8 stack system from Wayne over at Very Cool Parts. We used Accell for the injection and spark systems managment.

Default Stack injection ideas

My history with the TWM (Borla) system has been good...especially when all the computer components were installed and adjusted... This was done by Bob Ream here in Glendale, AZ.

I would recommend you look into his system (Imagine Injection - "Home of Quality High Performance Fuel Injection Systems") or Bob@imagineinjection.com. Very nice system indeed.

Not much experience with the other systems but have heard some complaints on quality.
Regards,
Bill

I chose to use a crossover system made by Morrison. I'm really happy with the outcome!

Thanks for the info and pics so far.

I looked at the eight stack system and the crossram system also, but personally like the more modern look of the Inglese/Borla throttle bodies.

littlewave and gofastoldguy can you answer or anyone else

How the common vacuum is accomplished on the Inglese and Borla systems? Any pictures?

Are your fuel rails attached on the Inglese kit and how? In other words are they inline with the regulator at the end of the chain dumping to the return line? Any pictures? Looks like the distributor on a SBF will be in the way.

Anyone have pictures of the bellcrank linkage for the Inglese or Borla systems?

Also where are people location the O2 sensor? How far away from the heads? In the collector or after the collector?

Borla, Just finished this 410. Made 381 on the ground.

Something to be aware of is product support. I changed to TWM/Borla from another 8 stack because they wouldn't, couldn't or didn't return numerous calls.

Keep in mind that any EFI system is actually two systems. The first is the actual hardware - TB's, manifold, linkage, etc.

I think the sensors should also be included in this catagory. You just bolt them on and go. No set up or adjustment needed.

The second part of the system is the ECU and software. This is where it can get tricky. How much of the work do you want to do yourself, and how much do you want to pay some one else to do? How much tuning and adjusting are you willing to do? Do you just want basic fuel control? Or all the bells and whistles? And what about ignition control- coil pack, wasted spark, COP?

Just like your desk top, the ECU can get pretty sophisticated and complicated. But they are also very powerful.

If I were buying and building again, I would call Wayne at Very Cool Parts for all the hardware.

Then I would install another Megasquirt ECU. The learning curve is steep. But the ECU is very powerful and a lot less expensive than similar products. I like the ability to custom build the system to my own needs.

I plan on doing all the work myself. The install will be easy as I installed the webers and tuned myself. I am comfortable with the XFI system and plan to use it to run sequential injection and using a dual sync distributor. It would be nice to go to a coil pack system but do not know of a nice, convenient, engineered way to do so, if someone can point me in a good direction I will do that as well.

Anyone used or looked at the Holley Dominator EFI system? I have downloaded the holley software and the Fast software and the Holley software feels newer and easier to use.

I have been running the TWM/Borla setup for over 10 years. The installation was done by Dave Dralle (661) 256-2932. He is located at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, CA. The ECU setup is by Redline which was created by Lance Nist (949) 250-1797 of Pantera Specialists in Santa Ana, CA. I have had NO problems once this system was installed and setup. You won't be disapointed!!!

427 Sam - The screens came with the system. They are a piece of oil resistent foam sandwitched between 2 pieces of 3/16" hardware cloth (wire mesh), all held on by the molded rubber sleeves to the top of the stack. Fly screens is a good description as the foam is fairly open mesh to allow the engine to breath. It does keep out bits of grit and the occasional screw or whatever gets dropped when working in the engine compartment. After 5 years of living on top the engine they are starting to show cracking in the rubber. Very Cool Parts sells replacements at about $200 a set. I'll wait until they get a little worse. Check their web site.

For an update.

I purchased and am in the middle of installing an Inglese system with XFI and XIM with LS coils. I am using a MSD distributer for the cam sync and a FAST crank sync. Also am having new headers and sidepipes made at Stainless Headers. And rewiring the car with a new painless harness and new Autometer gauges. For a fuel system I am installing a vaporworx system with a manifold referenced PWM pressure system, dead headed. I will upload pictures when I am done in a couple of weeks. Everything will be tied together with fuel pressure and oil pressure logged with the XFI as well.
