Thanks for the info guys! I'm going to start looking over this stuff this week.

So I have to mount a catch can for the overflow tube? I have an over flow tank with a rubber hose on it going down to the ground.

The overflow tank is the catch can. If that fills up.........

So as long as my overflow tank is not over flowing and dropping fluid down on the track I'm good...Ok cool...Am I even allowed on the track for being this stupid?

Sure...Hell, yes, you are. We were all new one time. Most of us asked the same questions... What kind of people would we be if we ridiculed and made fun of every new idiot that came along and asked the same stupid questions that we've answered over and over again until we're about ready to puke...?

Oh...yeah....we'd be just like we are now...

Well...now.....there you have it....

Who was it that said some thing along the lines of "... the only stupid question is the one not asked..."? Then again... they probably never had children

Seriously though, catch can = overflow tank.... more or less

If you have a radiator cap on the raditor, expansion tank, top hose etc and in the neck it has a hose that runs to another tank, you are good! If the car is overheating bad enough to fill up a decent sized overflow tank... you have probably pulled it into the pits already! What they don't want is the normal expansion of the coolant to be puking on the track all the time. If a system is completely full with no air bubbles it will spit a little here and there under normal operation. Antifreeze is not good for traction!

Shouldn't be a problem. For a school, which this is, I beleive that they will even allow four point. Hopefully Steve will be able to publish the requirements soon on our website. Hint, hint! ;o)

I don't know personally, but I am fairly sure there are some spots open.

Edit: PS, you know SAAC in Ohio does and event there every year don't you? I usually go just to watch and look at all the cool cars.

Ohio SAAC did not do Mid-Ohio last year, they went to BeaveRun. I really miss the Mid-Ohio event, but I think it go too expensive and they didn't have enough participation.
I'm watching your event because I plan to race at the Vintage Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio the end of June. I could really use the track time before the event to sharpen things up a bit.....
I figured if you don't get enough club members the event may open up!
Thanks,
MC

Oh he!!, that is right... they did go to Beaver Run. Nice track from what I hear. Yeah they did have a lot of trouble filling Mid-Ohio in the years past. Seems to me that Mid-Ohio does have schools where you can drive your own car. The problem was SAAC was renting the entire facility all to their selves which made the cost really, really high. We looked at that but in the numbers we are talking, it would triple the cost. We 'share' track time with one of the Mid-Ohio schools and that is what is really paying for the day. We are just icing on the cake for them. By 'share', I don't mean we share the track at the same time, when they are in, we are out and we have our own set of instructors.

The event is really not for 'club members' exactly. It is really hard to define. It is for members of the 'community'. Speaking strictly for myself, I truly hope to have you amongst our ranks some day. I think I can best define what we mean by 'community' by saying it is a owner, past present or future, of an cobra, 40 or coupe and/or a supporter of LCS and its cause.... which is of course, CF. The only cars that are permitted to attend that are not one of the three are owned by folks that fit into this definition.... and even then, we look at the facts concerning the car and individual and take a vote if the decision is not clear cut.

Unlike SAAC, we do not need to hit a certain number to make the event financially viable. It doesn't matter if we have all 75 cars or half of that to Mid-Ohio. Sure it would be nice to have 75 but it is not a requirement. This is part of the reason we decided last year to stay on the same days as the school.
