David, I am completely serious about wanting to know what part of the story was wrong in the registry. You have accused me of screwing you in some fashion, and that doesn't sit well with me. So please tell me as rationally as possible what the basis of your accusation is. Surely leaving out details about how you traded concrete for the car - which I did not know about until today - can't justify your rant.

As I stated earlier it's your responsibility to pass on everything to the next owner. I'm sure the auction house in which you sold it asked you for everything you had in your possession, right?

Be careful here, Ron, since you may be accused of screwing the O.P. yourself. May I say to the CC gang, thanks for the supportive and often humorous comments - they are appreciated. I have to believe David felt he was not sufficiently honored in the registry for having taken a car he felt was beat-up and paying for a mega-restoration, thereby turning it into a thing of beauty and realizing a healthy profit when he decided to sell it. David - well done! You have accomplished what a great number of folks in the same registry have, yet only you have said you got screwed because you weren't somehow accorded enough space, adulation, or whatever you felt was missing from the write-up on 3301. As for your suggestion that I could have mentioned how you "drove it all the time," well ... I show that in the first 4-5 years you owned it, the car had 320 miles put on it, for less than 80 miles per year. If that equals driving it all the time in your book, so be it. I thought otherwise. Fact is, I do my best to produce what is intended as a historical review of early Cobra production/ownership, where the cars are the focus rather than their owners. I apologize to you that you felt slighted in some way, however your assertion that the 3301 footnote got you "screwed by Ned Scudder" is nothing more than a stupid and arrogant misstatement of the facts.

Perhaps you need to include his original rant in the next registry....

Oy vey.

The registry is aleady 10,000 pages long and weighs 400 lbs. The various SAAC registrars are charged with editing the massive amounts of info, so I'll assume that the info or "story" you provided and didn't make the latest edition was superfluous to the car's history.

And that means Ned screwed you? Dude, I would hate to have to give you the "Starving Kids in Africa" speech, but there are more important things in life than that story.

Well, I have just returned home with my wife following her colonoscopy to find this thread on Club Cobra. My first thought was, at least the guy who decided to stick something up her backside this morning had a reason to do so. David, having read and re-read your comments, I remain baffled as to how you were somehow "screwed by Ned Scudder." I have never heard anything from you previously, and there is nothing in the 3301 file from you, as there is from other owners, including Dr. Shetty, who sold you the car. The 2008 registry explains that you bought 3301 from Shetty, had it restored and repainted white with blue stripes at HRE, listed its odometer reading, and discussed the car's being entered into a few auctions, at one of which it was sold. Did you want more detail? Did you want your name in capital letters? What, exactly, was incorrect in what the registry printed? Nothing that I can observe, unless you are pissed off that I didn't add more detail. But that's incredibly tough to do when the owner of the car doesn't share that information. I guess those of us who serve the hobby as registrars should somehow develop better powers of mental telepathy, because apparently we are expected to possess strong credentials in that area. I apologize to you that mine are still in training. And, in the interest of being factual, when you state that 3301 was "pulled off the production line by FAV" to be given a variety of competition options, you are incorrect. The photos I have of the car in Paris with its first owner show the car to have been sold as a pure street car, with sunburst wheels and no roll bar. They were added after 3301 arrived in the USA in the late 70's.

Ned,
you have my gratitude and respect for what you do as a registrar.
You can now add my sympathy.
Thank you,
Mark

I go to car shows so people interested can see the car. I'm not upset because no one has asked for MY autograph or MY picture. I'm having fun with it until the day we part ways meanwhile.

This is entertaining. You've been a member since 2006 and this is what you decide to make as your first post after 8 years?

Are you related to Evan?

That's probably why Ron let it go for now. Unfortunately its entertaining at someone else's expense for no good reason.

Kind of. I let it go to allow Ned to make a response to this ridiculous assertion.

He has. Thanks, Ned.

Go easy, boys, for the rest of the life of this thread. The facts are there for all to read.

I Have pictures of AEX 127 and if it is listed would like to send to the current owner.. again, if not, please disregard this post.

Perhap the AC forum would be a better place to locate the current owner of the Ace.

I'm quite pleased you don't include that whole rant from one owner of one car for all of them. This is from the guy that carries his around getting as many original owners, drivers and racers as I can to sign it. Thanks Ned for keeping the registry but even more thanks for dealing with obnoxious, offensive, self serving, illiterate, ignoramus' like this! Did you and the missus get a discount on a double?
