Once I get my car from Bruce I'll post some pictures of the build. Bruce claims it's cold in Pittsburgh this time of year. It's mid-20s in Orlando tonight so I don't understand the problem.

I'll have to figure out how the mount the Kirkham pedal box I bought (among other things) so you guys might come in handy.

Patrick, maybe some "flames" or "stickers" on your special bag would inspire many others to get a baggie too. Is it sort of a zip lock affair? 
Actually I enjoyed talkin politics on the Lounge..it was alway interesing and fun, but too many folks took it way to serious and would say nasty things. 
It's all fun and at times very helpful ... this cobra site.

No, Bill. It has a real, heavy-duty zipper. You unzip the bag, drive the car on to it, let it cool, and then zip it up. But before I put it away for the winter I always give it a kiss on each roll bar and then play "this LED went to market, this LED stayed home" with each of the LED brake/running lights that I carefully fabbed for it this summer. It then squeals with delight, kicks its tires a bit, and goes to sleep. |

Took my ERA out for a drive today! Some clouds, some sun, about mid 50's, not bad, had a good ride. Most of the roads were wet so I had to be super careful about wheel spin,,,, in third!  |

The forum, being very informative outdated itself, because basically every answer has been given already about 37 to 93 times.
I consider the scratch builder's section the most valuable addition since years (on top of the Kirkham build thread which needs a table of content, or did that happen meanwhile)?
The registration section I give a lonely 3rd place, while in Europe all goes down the drain in that respect. Seems they nail everybody having "aged" their cars.
I used to be online daily, and reduced that over the years to once a month...
Or am I wrong?

Oh come on, this site is just plain fun, folks can comment, poke fun at others while at the same time learn something.
If you built your ride yourself or bought it from another builder, it doesn't really matter, there's going to be information and idea's that you will find here. One great benefits is to use the Club as a sounding board for your questions and opinions, things that help you as an owner make the best possible decisons.
I've found many things and have gotten great solutions from the folks on this site, but most of all it's a brotherhood of Cobra owners and that is fun.

This site was very instrumental in me finally deciding to buy one. It took me almost 4 years in the "research" phase. During that period I definitely wasn't an active poster, still not, but I was/am a very active reader. There really is a lot of knowledge exchanged on this site. I've never been real chatty, I'm just an old retired guy who finally bought his real dream car. I don't know most of the folks on here, only from their posts. Some of the posts I've seen probably would have been better handled off-line, then not knowing the folks, maybe they're best-buds just having some fun. I believe a forum is a place to exchange ideas and opinions. That certainly goes on here! In all seriousness, I believe there's enough knowledge on this forum to answer most any question/concern, and it is great having different perspectives in those answers.

I am a builder that likes to know the detail of how guys have done things. One thing I have noticed is there are few that have been willing to post the step by step detail. I know it takes a lot of work to do it but it seems when that has been done those threads are the most read. I have often looked over on the FFR forum for how others have done things. I would like to see more members give us the detail with pictures. I love it.

I find there's a double benefit to posting detailed steps and pictures of my Cobra repairs. 1) I always get PMs and emails thanking me from guys who genuinely were interested in it (and maybe didn't know how to do it); and 2) It irritates people like Lykins, ERAChas, RodKnock, and others.  Frankly, I'm not sure which benefit is more satisfying. |

On #2 does it irritate them because they are jealous of your knowledge or because they think you are full of it?

Excellent question! Remember, you have Lykins at one end of the mechanical knowledge spectrum, and Rodknock at the other end -- and they both seem to get equally irritated; I think Chas falls in the middle, probably leaning towards Lykins. So, that said, they all probably just think I'm full of crap. |

One reason might be is new people or people with new projects have become smarter, using the "search" function, finding answers in old posts vs. creating new ones.
And, I've noticed in some cases when someone new does makes a post to ask a question, if the topic has already been posted before sometimes they get slammed a bit by more frequent members (not always, but sometimes) telling them to search old posts, possibly making them feel stupid or others kindly post links to redirect them to old threads for help, and those old threads don't get replied to then since they are just old; so it stops there.
Here is a thought:
Maybe all Sr. members and/or long term members could try more to help encourage new members or people with new-build projects to "ask questions" for help, whether its been discussed before or not. I bet there are more than a few lurking out there just waiting to ask questions or wanting to post photos of what they are doing this winter.
I'd be very interested in seeing what people are building these days for new projects, including different motor or drivetrain ideas; especially when its not period correct or just something different to see. Just a thought...
