Premium is over $4 here on Oahu and is usually at least 25 cents more on the other islands. We are lucky here - you can't drive very far unless you want to do laps around the island.

Flip,
You have it made. Here we gas up at the first pump and top off at the last one leaving the station. And by the time I get from the first pump to the last one they have raised the price again. I an really starting to believe that we may have it over $5 a gallon this Summer. A lot will depend on the tourists and if they come or stay away.

I try to equate this to something else I use everyday - Soap or shampoo. We are all more than willing to pay $3 for 12 - 16oz of this stuff, but not pay $5/gal for gas I'm pretty sure we have a choice on the gas with all the public transportation and all, but keeping clean, I like that too much (unless I'm at deer camp) to not do it It's all relative. How much did you pay for the wax or glass cleaner per gallon to clean your car? I say we got it good. Go to England or Germany or even Canada and see what they are paying - http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lis...bal_gasprices/ Looks like we all need to move to Venezuela

Lucky my cobra gets 35 mpg on a run.

Doug,
That is great gas mileage and we do have it good here compared to other countries. And as PV pointed out, everything else is going up daily around here. I hate to walk into a store any more. We have the tourist problem here when times are good as everyone raises the prices out of sight to catch the tourists that come to spend a week or so on the lake and hiking. Then once that is over they lower the prices back to just a little more than they were before the big raises.

When I was there I really enjoyed my laps around the Island. Even in my son in laws Nissan! If I would have had the Cobra and gas was $6.00 a gallon I still would have done it all day and night .

This kind of goes along with this thread. It is the most expensive gas station in the U.S. And it isn't in California although our average is the highest in the states.

It depends where you live if public transportation is available. Here in Southern California public transportation is not really an option unless you are going to very specific places. The cities are spread out, and most have to drive a fair amount daily to just get to work.

Ron - I bet you can buy gas at other stations there for a whole lot less then the $5.39 at that one in Florida. Now bottled water is another deal - usually about $12/gallon but people don't give it another thought.

Flip,
Right now about the lowest gas we have around here is $4.19 and it goes up to $4.89 in some stations. It will really jump when Spring gets here and the tourists start coming in. But that is a yearly thing around here. I don't buy much bottled water here, but it isn't quite that high yet.

Ron - to get the $12/gallon price I just ball parked the bottle price @ $1.50/pt
Some places are more some are less. i guess you are paying for the convenience. I just save mine and refill them. Hawaii water is good.

Flip,
That is what I do. I bought a 6 pack of bottled water and a gallon jug about a year ago. When I empty a bottle I refill it from the jug and when that was gone I would fill the jug from the tap and keep it cool to refill the bottles.

Well it seems to have leved off here for a day or two. It has been around $3.75 - $3.85 now for a few weeks for Diesel. Still too damn much if you ask me.
It is pretty bad when $100.00 will not fill up the tank.

Steve,
You have to be joking about the $10 filling up the tank. A few days ago I went over to top the Comet off as I was going into Redding and the gas gage was just a little below the full mark. I thought it would take about $5 to fill it back up and I gave them a $20. I got $1.18 back in change.

Steve,
I just misread your post. Sorry about that. Now that I read it correctly that makes a lot more sense. I want a new Boss 302 Mustang that gets 47 miles per gallon.

The STS had a half tank and we had to get gas. We have a lot lf running around to do tomorrow. It cost $48.00 to fill it up ... from a half tank.
It seems the prices here are still peeking. I guess the prices come down a little sloer than they go up. LOL
Ron,
Yea I thought you misread that. No problem.
I can remember gas at $0.25 per gallon how about everyone else?

I have you beat. When I was a kid my uncle had a station with the old hand pumps and regular was 10 cents per gallon and Ethyl was 12 cents per gallon. You could fill a tank then for about $4.
