been up for awhile. drinking my 1 cup of coffee.... rounding up the hoodlums for church.... haven't been in a while, soo, guess I'm off to church today, gotta be 'saved'..... ya'll be good while I'm gone, thinking heavenly thoughts....
no pancakes on Sunday's. We have pillsbury rolls- pick your flavor for the day, orange (gross) caramel (yummy) cinnamon (so-so) little cobra girls are up first, so they pick the orange. gross, gross. I put a little can of cinnamon in each week, so the whiners that don't like orange or caramel can have something to pick at. I have to get going on this big school project I've gotten myself into. Drag. Made excellent progress on the boys' room last night. They have a sofa bed upstairs, and #1 son will sleep on it until his new furniture arrives. Went to Rooms to go....... How nice, he picked out the one I secretly liked the best... there is hope, yet..... #2 son is thrilled about his 'new' king bed. Although they are just 2 twins pushed together! We still have them made up like twins, til I can get the straps to hook them together, and get cheap king sheets.... they want a 'sound wall' set up, kind of like a divider. I think that'll be ok.... I guess teenage boys need their own space.... Have a great day! K |
Kristen,
Sounds as if the room is coming along well. Forget the Sound Wall. A line with a machine gun on each side will work just fine. Tru, Darn, I thought that your snow was over for a while. We are having rain and have had off and on the past week but no really cold temperatures.Way down to 46 one night, but mostly in the 50s. As for the wires, they hold most of my parts together.  Ron  %/ |
150 pages and no sign of death:CRY: I can't believe I have read all of them:p Man I need a life!
|
Hey, Mike Z! yeah, I can't believe I've written on almost all 150. Talk about needing a life.... Really, tho', this is more of an 'escape of life' for me, than living my hectic real life....
My mother in law says she is gonna go with me to meet Earl. ;) She's heard so much about the 'wicked ways of the internet'.... afraid I'm gonna hook up with some internet dude.. leave my hubby and 4 kids, for some internet love affair.... I don't know how old Earl is, but I was giving her a hard time; said Earl might start hitting on her!!! (kidding Earl, I know you're married, and all) Just playing with her.... BOTH my inlaws will be on the trip. Btw. We don't arrive til 5 pm on March 12. Pretty funny, Ron, about the machine gun. As a matter of fact.... I have vacuumed up probably 200 + 'air-soft' gun pellets. The wars that go on up there. I shudder to think. We probably have 1000 + of the little plastic army men. Green, beige, etc. We are leaving those upstairs, because of all the campaigns, and battles they like to set up. #1 son is a tactical expert (in his own mind). the star wars figures will get sorted and saved. All the knights, playmobile toys, cowboy and indian things are going out. They were a big part of our life for a long time.... kinda sad, in a way. I'm sure I'll feel the same way when all those zillions of doll babies and strollers, baby clothes, etc. are given away - of the girls. And the Barbie room. Won't miss that stuff, tho'. We have a hall from our room that is near where all the Barbie junk is. I call it the 'gauntlet' because if you walk down it in the dark of night, you will wake the house with all the yelling from stepping on all the little barbie shoes and $h!t left lying on the floor.... OUCH!!! Very nice church service. my attendance was noted and applauded by the crowd.... :) Two souls were saved and baptized. Wow. a big day. Kentucky Fried chicken for lunch, and now it's nap time! Home by myself..... uuummmm. heavenly.... Gonna work on that school project in a while. check ya later! Beautiful 80*, btw. great day for the cobra. If I had one. :( Should be home this week. Keep your fingers crossed!!! |
For all you people sufferring winters grip
Sentiment I'm sure you must feel about this time http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=50287 |
Yep, thats about the way I feel about winter.
When will it be over?!! |
Good one Gary.
Mike we are going to pull out all support if we don't get any pictures of your frame. We want progress! Oh, BTW brace yourself, the snow is heading your way and is coming down in buckets. |
Snow, great, I have a day off and it snows:( :JEKYLHYDE
:( As for the frame.... I believe I am going to have to put that on hold for now (I have to save money to get tools for VoTech.):( I may just get a mig welder and do it at home in the garage, whenever the he** it gets done. |
Mike,
Don't get depressed. Things will work out. Maybe when you get started at Votec they will give you some extra credit for building a frame. Just what basic tools do you need at the beginning for Votec? :) Kristen, My Mother would never clean my room at all. Twice a month I had to clean it and then show her pictures to prove that I had did so. She wouldn't enter it after my Father almost got electrocuted on onew of my experiments. Ron %/ |
Didn't snow as bad as they said ti would. Looks like four inches.
Slippery though, I slid all over this morning. |
Just 4 inches. That is hardly enough for you to notice after what you have had. And ice with it? Just remember Spring is on the way. :D
Ron  |
Tru, we got no snow whatsoever, but we got about an inch of sleet.
Ron, I need 278 sockets, standard, metric and torx, standard and deep in 1/4”, 3/8", and 1/2” drive, 28 drive tools and attachments, 103 combination wrenches, flare nut and crowfoot, ratcheting box end double box in fractional and metric sizes and adjustable, oil filter and pipe wrenches, 37 screwdrivers and hex keys, 34 punches, chisels and pry bars, 19 pliers, 4 brake tools, 4 hammers, 4 battery tools, 3 files, 4 hook picks, 4 vice grips, 2 torque wrenches, 2 tire gauges, a fender cover, a seal puller, a thickness gauge, a scraper, an air chuck, a voltage tester, a blow gun, a flashlight, a valve core tool, an Auto Inspection Tool Kit, and mechanics fingers. Oh, and a tool box that can hold all of them. With that said, if I my school wasent involved with VoTech it would probably be a 10,000-15,000 tuition PLUS the cost of tools. Since I have got in, I have been thinking a little. After I am done with the training, I have the choice to go back in 12th grade to learn about the heating/airconditioning, or I can go out and work. Now, If I go out and work, If I can convince my dad to let me stay at the house a few years after high school (while helping to pay bills, high guestimate of 20,000) I will have enough money saved up to pay for a Cobra with cash, and that would look good on my credit (50k car paid for in full) so it would be actually be helping me to get a house of my own. |
Mike,
Are you positively sure that you never left anything out of the tool list? As for the paying cash for a car looking good on your credit, it may work the opposite. I haven't bought anything and made payments since I bought a new 1965 Ford Galaxie 500XL. Now that I was looking at getting a home equity loan to maybe do some stuff or buy that Superformance Cobra, all I hear is You have no credit history. It is frustrating beyond belief to deal with beurocracy. I think I am going to get a Govt. job and become one of them. I could work for Cal Trans as I can lean on a shovel as well as any of them. Ron %/ |
haha, thats pretty much what Penndot does as well. :JEKYLHYDE
I left the air tools out of the list, they're not required but I would like to have them. |
Mike,
My neighbor is a retired Cal Trans Engineer and he has the best retirement I ever heard of. When he wants to he can go into the office and work a few hours and they will pay him at the end of the month the same as he was making when he was working. This is on top of his really good retirement pay and benefits. So every time he goes on vacation, he will run in and work enough hours to pay for the vacation. I think that instead of a Gold Watch, he got a Gold Shovel with a chin pad on it. :D I just got off the phone with my home insurance company seeing about a home equity loan and they said they thought that I should be ok. They did a credit approval on me and it came back with an 810 rating out of a possible 1,000. Then I spent 20 minutes faxing them papers that they wanted to see, so I should know in a few days if I will get an approval or not. Then, most likely I will never borrow anything as I really just wanted to establish this as a back up for an emergency. But it will be nice to know if Iam considered a risk or not. :( Ron :) |
Interesting way of looking at it Mike. That's not the way it works, but interesting.
May I suggest you take a different approach? Collect enough money to buy a Cobra ( since you are he!! bent on getting one ). Find the one you want to buy and secure a loan from a bank to purchase the car. Make payments for six months and then pay off the car. That will start a "Good credit rating" for you. Tools are expensive. I suggest you start buying small amounts as you go. Never be afraid to purchase the best, you will never be disappointed. Brand names with warranties are the way to go. The other place to look is garage sales and used tool stores. Look for Snap-on, SK, Proto,... It is best to know what a wrench costs before you buy one. That is to say, a wrench marked $15.00 used and costs $15.50 new, is not a deal. Ebay has very few deals, unless you are purchasing a whole, large set. |
Tru, SK has a vocational program that has all of the tools required for the Diesel Program I am taking, and since I am enrolled in it I get a discount from the factory.
So it is better to buy a car, make payments and pay it off rather than buying it outright? Never thought of it that way before. Yes, I will have one somtime, come he** or high water.:) |
Tru,
How about we go together and buy Mike a wrench. :D :D As for the brand names, I agree completely. Most of mine are Sears, as Snap On and others are rather hard to get around here unless you own a garage and then they will send a truck out occasionally. And I have bought mine slowly as I found different things that I needed. Also watch for the Sears tool sales and that is when I bought my last tool chest. Another thing about buying the big sets they all advertise is there are so many things in them that you most likely won't use. As for the Cobra, he has to start mowing lawns soon to earn money. Or running a snow blower service.  Ron :) |
Ron, we only had the snow blower out once this winter (We thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was, ) oh crap, I just jinxed myself again didn't I?
|
Mike, yes, it is better to establish some credit. Having the money in the bank is important to getting a loan. It's silly how that works, but the bank won't lend money to people that don't have any money. What I mean is, Credit worthy is partly determined by how well you save the money you have. If you are a 'safe risk'. If you borrow $20K, how will you prove to them you'll pay it back? Why should they loan money to people if they can't get it back? anyway, gotta go. keep working on those tools. Sounds like a lot of tools, and a lot of money.
