BTW....is your name spelled Kristin or Kristen? I think I've seen in Kristen in other posts.....but not for sure. I dated a girl in high school....she spelled her name with an "i".....so forgive me if I type it that way...it's a little out of habit.

Mike, I agree with Blykins abut the engines. Get the 351. My stroker uses a 74 block and they told me that from 73 up the blocks were stronger. Not sure if that is correct or not. If you get a truck engine, just cut the rear off the car and make it into a bed and you will be correct. :LOL: :LOL: I saw one person do that to a 1965 Falcon and even though they did a good job, I thought it riuined the car. If that is what he wanted why not buy the Ranchero to start with. :confused: Ron :cool: |

When I got back from Carlisle, I was too tired to post. I didn't find a 351 block, but I did come back with some knowledge. Theres a place called Crites Restoration, they make a bunch of stuff for Fairlanes, and one of the things they make is a "Shock Tower Relocation Kit," It moves the Towers a little bit so you can squeeze an FE or even a 385 Series block in a 63-65 Fairlane. They even make the headers for the big block swaps. Can you say Thunderbolt Replica?:D Right now im keepin my eyes peeled for a 64' Fairlane that needs some work. There were some really nice cars up there, and the "Scenery" was fairly nice too;)
Saw my first original 289 Street, and my first Kirkham, man were they sweet, but the Custom 63 1/2 Galaxie was my favorite one of the show. MAN was that thing ever sweet! That Galaxie is really a nice car. Forget about building one and buy it. :D Was that a 427 or 406 engine in it? Being a 63 1/2 I would guess it had the 427. Thanks for posting the pictures. If you are going to build a Thunderbolt Replica, you had better start getting parts together now. Since Ford only built 100 of them, you would need to contact the Thunderbolt Owners Club and find out abut the various changes between them. Some had automatics and some had 4 speeds. But mainly it sounds as if you had a great time and that is most important. Offer me enough to pay shipping and I will strip my car down and sell you the engine and other stuff you want. :) Ron :LOL: **) |

Ron, it had a built 427 in it, I believe the owner said it had around 600 Horsepower. I'm not looking for an exact replica of a T-Bolt, just something that "Looks" like it, probably with the 390 and a 4 speed if I decide to go this route. Crites Restoration sells the upholstery for the Dodge Van seats they used, the rubber matts, and a bunch of other stuff like the air cleaner with the two inlet tubes that take in air from the front of the grill. What car would this be that you want to strip down? Or were you just joking?:LOL:

I never joke about tearing up one of my cars. My cousin that came out from Arkansas may take the replica, but if he doesn't then I am going to strip all the good stuff off of it and junk the rest. Don't forget the most recognazible feature of the original T-Bolts. The tear drop hood. They had to make that shape to clear the big carbs they had on them. I see a few cars around here with those type hoods, but they are just stock street cars that people got the hoods for. And of course you will need the 1964 Fairlane to start with. I never did like the wooden roller coasters. Then again, the metal ones usually aren't worth the wait in line either unless it is a short line.

The wooden ones are more fun because you never know when thay are going to collapse. Although some of the metal ones that I have ridden didn't seem a whole lot stronger. At least I don't get sick and the guy that I was with last time I was on one was sick the rest of the day. :D Mike, If you can find stuff locally, that is best. But it seems to be getting harder and harder to find anything in this area. All of the good stuff has been picked over and is gone. I did see some kind of MOPAR setting out in a field the other day and I want to go back by there and see what it was.
