56 days until April and then what? Record heat or more snow and cold? We have a big car show here in April and I have seen it over 100 degrees some years and snowing other years. So don't get to excited about April until it gets here. :D  Or is that when you get out of school???? :D

Ron :JEKYLHYDE

LwCwb 02-03-2005 02:02 PM

I wish, when its april I only have to wait a month to go to Cobra Cralisle:D

Ron61 02-03-2005 02:07 PM

Yea, they have all the really great shows back in that area. Once in a while they willhave a fairly large Ford or chevy show out here, but they are mainly just small branch offs of the big shows back in that area. :)

Ron

hey,littlecobra 02-03-2005 02:47 PM

What a pleasant day, here, too. About 60*, and reallly nice. Have brought home 2 extra little girls. Our school is hosting middle school basketball tournament, so one son stayed for that, other son will go help with 8th grade at 5:30, and we'll all go watch the 7th grade girls play at 4:30. Fun afternoon. Yes, I scrapbooked today. Very fun. No, Mike, I do not get tired of it. I really enjoy looking at my photos. And how cute and fun my kids used to be. Before they got this teenage attitude thing going. :p I did all the books today; worked spring break '02. We went skiing for the first time, as a family. Went to Wolf Creek in Colorado. Left Littlest cobra girl home with in laws. We had a fun time, and the boys and 1 girl loved learning how to ski. It's fun to take them (the photos) from a ho-hum slip-in style album, to a fun, nicely decorated page that makes the whole trip come together. I take tons of pics, (as evidenced in my gallery) and I love to put them in the books. It is definitely my 'therapy' session for the week. All my old pics are in magnetic albums (bad bad bad) and I'm also working on replacing them from the magnetics. Lots to do, but fun to do....
Once Pepe gets back, I reckon I'll be spending a good bit of time getting him cleaned up and all pretty again.
Mike babysit my crew? Hmm. He's only a few months older than my oldest!! I wonder what kind of trouble they'd get him into???
I'd love to have Mike come visit. He'd love these 110* summers, I'm sure. And he can mow my 1 1/2 acres, and you don't even want to know about the roof.....

LwCwb 02-03-2005 02:53 PM

1.5 Acres, the lot we're getting has 6 ACRES!!!!! I think im gonna need a new mower...........

hey,littlecobra 02-03-2005 03:03 PM

yeah, 1 1/2 isn't that much, but for a 'city', it's nice. Plus, we have it 'manicure- mowed'. You know, the crew of 6 come and wiz it out; mulchers, trimmers, clippers, baggers, the works. Come on, you can 'help'!!!!
All the little shrubs are trimmed in these ugly rounded balls. "it's the hot thing in trimming" according to my yard dude.....
And, you can be the pool guy, too. Ugly pool. btw. we've thought about digging out and starting over.....
And, since you seem to know how to 'build', why don'tcha build me a stand alone garage, just for Pepe. a/c, heat, painted and fixed up all nice.... Right now the 'burban and sequoia are sharing the garage, while the land cr. and truck live outside....
I'm sitting in the 3rd bay of the garage. no, no, not really, it's now 'the office', probably 10 years ago or so it was taken from the garage section, and closed in to make an office. I like it as the office, but wouldn't mind a garage just for Pepe....
'course, by the time you got the 3rd garage done, I'd about paid for the HLC cobra!!

G.R. 02-03-2005 04:43 PM

CG
Several years ago we built a $3mil + house with a 4 car garage with a waterfront view of Seattle and Mt Rainier(awesome view). Then we built an additional stand alone garage, an oversized 4-car(you could easily get 6 cars in there). It was completely finished, marble floor tile in b&w, radiant floor and overhead heating, A/C, built in storage cabinets and s/s covered workbenches, 2 lifts, a washdown sink and a bathroom w/ shower. Completely finished with door, floor and window trim, angle mirrors at the ceiling around the perimeter to highlight the vechicles. Custom lighting and security, plasma tv ,satellite and cable and stereo system.
I think the garage was in the neighborhood of $250k when all was said and done. The owner is a collector, has a couple of Ferrarii's, a Cord, and a '32 Ford "Vicky" street rod, plus I was lead to understand a few other cars in museums.
I only met them once and I only saw one car a pos MB (i don't like MB's)

We can build you one just like it, sans the view;)

hey,littlecobra 02-03-2005 06:50 PM

Guess it wasn't for billy gates.....
my dad would do that, if he could.... he did the poor man's version; 2 car, 2 levels. bottom level, marine decking, (whatever that is) heat/ac, workbenches etc. Top level- 'his suite' (my folks live separate lives, I think) plush sofa bed, chairs, marble bar, brass, etc. gas log fireplace, full bath with heated floors etc. humongous tv setup, stereo, etc. That's where I first saw the 'rendevous' tape... gorgeous pool table, and a view of the alley! but beautiful Italian marble tile, etc. Mom pretty much has 'the house' dad has his quarters..... He's where I get my 'car thing' from. He had a 356 'bathtub' Porsche, back in '59, 60 or so, (before my time) and bought new in 68 a '69 Porsche 912, Targa.
He still has it, drives it. Was his daily driver for a zillion years....
When I was a teenager, he got a stripped to bare metal '65 E Jaguar. Was gonna restore (frame up) it himself, but he got fat and well, wealthy enough, and paid somebody else to do it. Took a few years, and now (or was for a while) a 'concours only' trailer queen. Pushed on the trailer, taken to major shows, then pushed back in the 'garage'. I think he won all he wanted to win, so now it just hangs around. That was his dream for a long time, and I guess once you've gotten your dream, you sit back and watch everyone else. He spent years keeping all of us kids' cars running. a 64 (?) tr3, my sister's/mine 66 mgb, and various junkers along the way. Nowadays he doesn't work on anything. He fell and broke his hip a few years ago, and it slowed him down a bit. now my folks travel a lot. So, while he was working on your car (my mg) you had to sit and watch. No watching tv in a/c while he's out sweating working on your car! I learned how to change the plugs, unstick the little emission thingy, (pvc valve) change a tire with 'spinner' knockoffs, wirerims, innertubes!!!!!!!
Guess speed. guess gas amount. guess temp of anything, figure out how to jump a 'positive ground' car. "Don't let some cute guy that thinks he knows what he's doing get near that car with jumper cables!!!!" 'pop the clutch' to get it started.... well, enough is enough.
That garage sounds soooo delectable. Probably a little more than my tastes, and budget can handle!!! I would like to have the 2 car garage all to the cobra's self. I ordered this humongous poster of ME at TMS, and I'll hang it up when I get it.... I'll take a pic and post it when I get it..... nothing like a little modesty....

Oh yeah. He had a 'ferrari mondial' tossed in there somewhere. I think it was an '86. I never drove it. Sat in it. You never touch the jag. I drove the porsche (69 targa) to hell and back, all over Dallas.... Did stupid things as a 19 year old.... glad I'm alive to tell it.... Brings back memories. That's the connection with the Cobra I think. My mg was british racing green, tho', and of course the cobra is 'american team blue'. well sort of!!!
You know, the lucas electrical, smiths gauges, spinners, bugeye lights, no radio, no fuss british.....

edit again to add: boy, I really ramble on at night, don't I ;)

hey,littlecobra 02-03-2005 06:53 PM

Sorry that was so long!!!

EarlsflyinCobra 02-04-2005 04:45 AM

But very interesting CG, no need to apologize for the length.

Ron61 02-04-2005 05:38 AM

Kristen,

Glad that you finally got the scrap booking finished. No wonder you have such an enjoyment of cars with yuor background. It is really nice to have women who enjoy cars and understand them. I beieve we have at least two in this state. Hope that Pepe gets home soon as it will not be long until events start. Looks as if we are going to have another nice day here today.
Mike will need a riding lawnmower for that 6 acres. Mike, I would be happy to help you change out those wimpy 15/20 horse engines and put in a good 85/100 horse one. That will speed up the mowing a good deal. And you can run it in the lawnmower races. :D

Ron :)

trularin 02-04-2005 06:04 AM

OHHH... NOooo! Don't go in there.

That's where the car people are...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

Ron61 02-04-2005 06:10 AM

Tru,

Good to see that you are up and about so early. Il ooked at one of Sear's garden tractors last year but not enough power. Just had a 25 horse motor. When I told the salesman I wanted at least 150 horse he looked at me like I was out of my mind. But with the right gearing, I should be able to top 100 MPH with that much power. :D

Ron  **)

Ron61 02-04-2005 06:43 AM

Mike,

Just a suggestion for you new garage.

Ron :)

trularin 02-04-2005 08:54 AM

Got three tractors, none have 100 HP.

Those tractors are huge. I am talking John Deer, 1000 acres work all day in the field type tractor. The ones that need a set of steps to the cab.

Ron, Just how much mowing do you want to do?

My Kabota has a 6 foot deck and it cuts fine and fast. I think we mow 4 acres with two tractors and clear with the International.

If you are working on getting a tractor, a Kabota in the 30 HP range will do you fine. A JD 770 is also very nice, but at $21,000, it a bit pricey.

So what are you cutting down??

Ron61 02-04-2005 09:26 AM

Tru,

I only have about 1/2 acre to mow and I was just joking about the horsepower. When I was young, I think I was at one time, we used FarmAlls and Ford tractors and I mowed hundreds of acres with them. Actually for mowing hay, I really liked the smaller FarmAll better as I could run it all day in 3rd gear wide open and really get a lot done. And only having a 6' cycle, I could go places with it that the larger ones with longer cycles couldn't. Then when I was working on a ranch in New York, the guy had one of those huge tricycle type Farmalls that was scary at much speed. Huge rear tires that were above my head and the darn thing would turn up and over backwards in a heart beat. I once dumped almost 350 bales of hay on the highway with that beast.
The horsepower I was talking about wanting was so I could enter the lawnmower races. Always remember the Home Improvement show with Tim Allen when he souped up their riding lawn mower. I loved that show. It was my growing up on film. :)
