:D

Thanks Warren,

I needed that to cheer me up. Now how about helping Tru out. He has far more to worry about than I do. Funny, you start a Motivational thread and now he may be looking for a job. **)

#1 - he has not lost his job (as of this time).
#2 - I said a prayer for him early this morning.
#3 - other than #2 above, that is all I can do to help him out.
#4 - if he does get laid off, he can always do more work around the homestead, and write some more books.

I'm sure he will land on his feet no matter what happens.

I had to turn off the house fan again last night. Its now all the way up to 53°F. Time for some breakfast and a cup of coffee.

GMA everyone

Tru,
Hang in there, don't give up just yet. Keep us informed on what is happening when you can.

I know friends of mine are getting laid off now that have been at the same job for 15 - 17 years. They are getting very good severance packages though. Remember the severance can be negotiable if you play your cards right.

4RE KLR 08-21-2008 08:08 AM

Fred,
Here is a candidate for the Ho's.

wtm442 08-21-2008 08:26 AM

That is one space cadet. Would fit in fine with the Ho's sisters only if the space suit has a zipper. :p

Ron - did you know that science has shown that people who have more birthdays live longer?

I had friends in work that got laid off after working for over 30 years with the same company ... and not just a few people. It sucked for many people, but some were glad. Strange how things work out.

Ron61 08-21-2008 08:43 AM

Warren,

Ok, now I know why some people have two birthdays a year. and all this time I thought it was just for the presents. :)

Gentlemen,

It is official, I will be included in the next round of numbers for the unemployed in the USA. I have four weeks to find a new job.

Unless something miraculous happens.

wtm442 08-21-2008 11:23 AM

Sorry to hear that you will be laid off. Whatever you do, make sure you apply for unemployment compensation immediately if you do not find another job quickly.

Let see, you can always become a full time author, or maybe sell Xmas trees, or start a bigger garden and sell fresh veggies at a farm stand. I'm sure there are a few members on CC that would buy some homegrown squash and okra from you. They sell corn here in the local supermarkets at about 35 cents each, but I drive 18 miles round trip about twice a week to a farm stand to pick up fresh corn at 60 cents each that is picked that day. I've had 2 ears of native corn about 5 times a week for the last month. I just bought a pint of native blueberries, and it is the best I've had in a couple of years.

trularin 08-21-2008 12:36 PM

Well, this whole working in the automotive industry seems to suck.

:D :D :D

4RE KLR 08-21-2008 12:37 PM

Sorry to hear that Tru,

I promise you the construction industry is not any better!

Wow, this economy just keeps hitting back harder and harder.

Joe Wicked 08-21-2008 01:38 PM

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes Tru. If you can stand the politics, the Electronics industry is still doing well. Us Americans don't want to give up our electronics no matter what the economy is it seems. We are actually still hiring a few positions, but I am not sure what is all open anymore as I see new people everyday. There cannot be much left open. Good luck in finding what you need.

392cobra 08-21-2008 03:22 PM

Tru,
Even as tough and hard working as you are,it is still a high stress time for you. I'm truely sorry this is happening to such a fine person.

Being the tough hard working person you are,you will come out the other end in good shape.
You virtues will get you through.

392cobra 08-21-2008 05:44 PM

Frenchy said you could rub her butt again,if it made you feel better.:)

hey,littlecobra 08-21-2008 06:17 PM

ahhhh Dave. Sorry to read the news. :(
You are very good at several things; electronics, engineering, authoring, lecturing, building, on and on.
you are pretty conservative in your life's habits, so i am sure you are not so over extended that you will be in a financial duress for your home, farm, etc.
As much as you don't want to do it.... what about going back and teaching in college??
what are some options for you???

how will this impact the boys at school??

I think you are very resourceful and will come out of this standing.
My prayers and best wishes are with you!!!
Kristen

Tru

If you'd like a review of the procedures being followed by your employer, PM me.

Ron61 08-22-2008 03:41 AM

:(

Dave,

Sorry to hear it is official but after what I read a couple of weeks ago, I posted and asked you if that would affect you. I was afraid their announcement about cutting back may filter down to the real workers.

I wish you all the best and hope that things will work out very soon. Take Jamo's advise as he knows far more than any of us about this kind of thing.

Best of luck and e-mail me if you have any think that looks good.

Ron :(

GMW
Took a nice ride yesterday evening. This weather is fantastic. No thunderstorms for five straight days. **)

Forecast for the next seven days is sunny with hi temps between 74 and 82°F. I'm going to have to get a loan for all the gas I've been using lately. :p

Ron61 08-22-2008 04:25 AM

:)

Warren,

It sounds as if your weather is now about the best of the bunch. Enjoy the rides and get some more pictures. Our august has been one of the worst ever. Most of the area was covered with smoke and ash, then a few days of record high temperatures and now the past few days it has only been into the 90s, which is really low for here normally for this time of year. I may drag the 69 out and take it for a drive to Red bluff ford if I feel up to it later.

Ron

Thank you so much for your support.

8 years at Delphi went fast.

I have begun to make adjustments. I may run to Texas to shoot Boars...for the meat.

You are very good people. I am heart felt by your concern and passion. It is the reason CC will exist even if the site diappeared.

Thanks again.

:D
