‘Phony Vets for Truth’ Join Reid Attack on Rush Limbaugh
by Scott Ott · 131 Comments

(2007-10-01) — Just hours after Sen. Harry Reid, D-NV, took the senate floor to call on radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh to apologize for using the term “phony soldiers” during his Friday broadcast, a newly-formed, grassroots veterans organization endorsed the senate majority leader’s efforts.

Phony Vets for Truth, an non-profit group comprised of ex-military personnel who have publicly and deceptively disparaged the United States, the president or fellow U.S. troops in time of war, applauded “Sen. Reid’s bravery, and his appropriate use of senate debate time to discuss Mr. Limbaugh’s scurrilous remarks.”

In a statement completely independent of the Democrat National Committee, Phony Vets for Truth, a non-partisan think tank, also said: “When private citizens start to believe that they can say whatever they want without being subject to the normal democratic process of selective sound-bite editing, and selective outrage, then it’s time for Congress to take action.”

The group, which has no affiliation with professional Vietnam Veteran Sen. John Kerry, also commended Sen. Tom Harkin, D-IA, for “boldly standing behind the protection of the ‘speech and debate‘ clause of the Constitution to suggest that Mr. Limbaugh was high on drugs.”

This goes beyond Rush....and beyond phony soldiers.

The main stream media (MSM) no longer have the power they used to have. People get their news and analysis from the Internet and talk radio.

The fact that left wing radio (Air America, etc) failed and conservative radio has succeeded gives insight into the minds of Americans in general. Talk radio actually lets someone know that there are many others who feel the same way regarding many issues. It is the purist form of communication because it's the voices of the people.

Now the MSM, studies show, favor the Democrats and the left. Even to the point of printing or reporting false stories that attack the other side, the administration or the war on Islamists.

The left would like nothing better than to shut down any talk show host that is critical of them. You see, lefties have no sense of humor. Rush, as one, uses humor to make fools out of them. That makes them go apoplectic, spittle coming out of their mouths, eyes bulging, etc.

The democrats (lefties) think they are rulers. They forget we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights. They couldn't care less about the rights of free speech, unless of course it's some despot.

So don't get snagged by these little issues. The problem is much larger and goes far deeper that just Rush.

Much better...now THAT is an issue to be discussed.

Air America was supposed to be the latest/greatest...it had some of the top whiners of the left (some even funny now and then), financial support, etc. No excuses...it took a crap.

Fox has surpassed CNN...

Is the REAL America finally waking up?

REAL America?

I doubt it, as my neighbor was screaming mad at my family when we removed oleanders located on my property yesterday.

There is a 'movie' (I have to put it in quotes, as it really isn't worth the time to watch it) called "Idiocracy." Simply put, a parody of where society is choosing to go.

I am not sure it will ever wake up.

Jamo, I may need a referral for this stupid civil matter. She is so irrational, I will need a professional to handle this 'dispute.'

JT,
Really? What does she have to be mad about? It's your land (until you lose it to emminent domain ).

There was a case a couple of years ago where a guy put a 40 foot tall lighted cross in his yard. His neighbours had a problem with the light being too bright at night. They went to court, and the guy with the cross won.

There is another article I was just reading about where someone put a wind turbine in their back yard, and the neighbours were upset at that because it was in a historical area.

Well first off General Clark is retired. He does not have a dog in this fight. General Petraus is the equivalent of Eisenhower in WWII. I see the difference. and it is not only moveon.org but the House too.

I don't agree with your opinion on conservative humor. The left is like someone who does not really understand the concept of humor and find very few who actually have that sense.

I don't find the right attempting to shut down serious political discourse as the left does, or wishes to.

My opinion of the left is that they are a bunch of neo-Bolsheviks. Hey? did I coin a new word?

Not so easy.

Folks see colors differently. That's why you can go into an electronics shop where someone has tuned all of the TVs to look the same. They will all look the same to him but not to others, who will say that there are color variations between sets. (I worked in a television/appliance shop in an earlier life).

However, your question implies that the sky is a constant color, with the distinction being which constant color, and there is the misdirection.

It's like the question "what color is a polar bear", hence the requirement for a usable definition.

Chopper,
You are getting pretty much exactly where I was going as well.

The blue end of the spectrum is always the same. Those numbers can be measured by scientific equipment. Your perception (and mine) of that spectrum is what differs. And you are right - we need common usable definitions of things.

Mike does not need to convince me of any truth, but if he wants me to think the same thing as he does then the burden of proof IS on him. If he told me today that the sky is blue he would be wrong. Today the sky was grey, and there is nothing he can do to convince me otherwise. It works the same way in reversed roles. His sky might or might not have been blue today. I cannot prove or disprove it (to my satisfaction) without being there (and agreeing with what 'blue' actually is ).
We can get into all kinds of discussions about a priori and a posteriori knowledge, but I really doubt we are going to solve any dispute between Descartes (I had a rainy day cart, and you had a sunny day cart! ) and Locke here.

So Mike, what is your answer to your own question?

Steve
