Where in Florida did you live? What were your reasons for leaving...and choosing Georgia?
We've lived our whole life in WV and now that I'm retired, we're considering moving to Florida. Tired of the "November-April cold and wet" and looking for warmer year-around weather. (I seem to notice how limiting the weather is now that I don't spend all day at work!)
My in-laws retired to The Villages (north of Orlando) several years ago and love it.
Trying to learn all we can before we make a choice.

I wouldn't be surprised if I end up spending the winter in California and the summer in Oregon!

Sounds like me - spring and fall in Texas, and summer and winter in Hawaii.
You gotta love it!

I am planning on staying in Georgia because all of my car friends live here. My kids and family are nearby. I do plan to move to north Georgia.
I love the area. You will not find a liberal within 50 miles, and the roads are well-paved and fun to cruise on.
I had always thought that I'd move to FL, but it's just too crowded there. While they have no income tax, they make up for that with other taxes.

Eh Eh, last time I checked it was still in the belly of a ship on the high seas. Should be arriving any day now, I can't wait!
Years ago a rental company did rent out Excalibur's. No more, Vettes and Lambo's and such these days.

Ernie,
Welcome to CA. I just got back last night from Oahu visiting family for the week. I don't know how you could take driving your cobra over there.
Typical speed limits were crazy..... 4 lane divided streets & highways with 25mph speed limits that would fluctuate to 35 then 25 then 30 then back to 25 for no reason. I was told that this was for "safety" I then noticed they allow passengers to ride in the bed of pick-up (on the freeway too, which by the way have a maximum of 60MPH) backseat passengers don't have to wear seatbelts and talking on cell phones while driving is legal AND it also seems that only folks from the "mainland" use signals when turning. I was constantly on my brakes to keep the car from speeding over 25 when going down even the slightest hill.
I like the islands but driving is a challenge I didn't enjoy.
Hope to see you in the Bay Area soon,
Mike

That is the #1 reason I decided to move! They closed the only race track on Oahu a few years ago. For awhile everyone kind of figured they would build a new one or something. After a few years I decided it aint gonna happen, I'm outta here! I can't even run through second gear without breaking the 60 mph max speed limit!

That's why I consider myself lucky to have a second home in Texas where my
Kirkham resides. The roads there make it a pleasure to drive - although it do
get a little warm in the summer!
