Here is basically the same info from what you would consider a credible source:

The last paragraph says:
" McCain wanted to challenge Obama in several Lincoln-Douglas-style debates but the Obama camp countered with other ideas and no resolution could be reached. Obama’s campaign has said these standard meetings will likely be the only ones."
So the ball is back in McCains court.
McCain wants a small forum where he feels that he would have an advantage over Obama. Obama wants a larger forum where he can play the crowd to his advantage.
As I said before, both campaigns will try to arrange to give their candidate the advantage. McCain will not go into a situation where Obama has a distinct advantage, and Obama won't go into one where McCain has the advantage.
You seem to think that Obama should give up his advantage, but that McCain does not have to do the same...sounds like you are not confident enough in the ability of your candidate to stand up against Obama where Obama might have an advantage.
