Default Ron's rate increaser

Ron,
In your brief you are discussing the electric rate increase. Are you in the PG&E service area? Is that a local increase or across the board?
Please give me more information.
BTW,
I bought a home across the street from my residence. I paid cash for the good deal and my son's and I did all the repairs.
My son applied for a loan for just the cost of the home, (purchase price + repair costs, no labor or profit).
That was four months ago. He meets lending criteria, income level, & appraisal level but cannot get a loan. Underwriters keep barfing it up.
Loan amount is only a hundred grand. House payment is only 1/2 the amount of his former rent.

What's wrong here? Can a member help clear up what we are doing wrong?

Thanks

Thanks Ron

Ron,

No I have nothing to do with PG&E. The only thing they have in this town is the natural gas. When the three small towns incorporated they formed their own power and water district. SLMUD. Shasta Lake Municipal Utilities
District and signed their contracts for water with the McConnell Foundation. The electricity we get straight from the dam and get from the Federal Govt. as they own and run that. But our sewer system and the old water lines do need replacing, I just don't think they will use the money for that. If they had used what they have taken in over the years and did some maintenance, this would not be necessary, and since many in this town are old and retired I fear there are going to be a bunch more homeless when they get these new rates in. Especially after the 4th year of them.

The increase is just for the City of Shasta Lake. Redding has their own problems and lawsuits going right now and they have nothing to do with us.

Ron

You've not posted sufficient information for meaningful input. Although, even if it was a smokin' deal - no money down may be an issue. You need to discuss this with a lender or a mortgage broker - probably a mortgage broker would be best since they don't make money unless they make loans happen. With that said, underwriters always have a reason to 'barf up' loans and that reason is regularly stated and provided to the applicant.

Isn't the idea behind Cap n Trade to make us more energy efficient and to improve the environment?
Is that correct? Or not?
IF that is the intent, then WHY the capntrade?
Every carbon fuel has been analyzed long ago. Bunker oil, fuel oil, kerosene, gasoline, whatever. Each is known to produce so much carbon emission when burned. So why not just tax the fuel according to its output? No way around it for the big emitters and that is the only thing that will make them get cleaner. Tax the fuel just like they tax gasoline at the pump now. Either way, WE will pay the tax. That's always true. But a straight tax does not need thousands of pages of rules [AND LOOPHOLES] and another 75000[to start]Government worker bureaucracy.
But the straight tax does not establish control over the energy industry either. The REAL idea behind Cap 'n' Trade!!
