SPO1715,

"Why am I paying 50 cents or more than premuim for a fuel that is of less quality than any grade of gas?"

Most U.S. refinerys are setup to produce more gas than diesel, they are different processes and like mentioned before - it's a supply/demand issue as the demand for diesel is increasing. I think the ratio is something like 60% gasoline, 20% diesel and the rest is motor oil, jet fuel and asphalt.

I know what you mean though, I used to have a little MB 300D and diesel was about 2/3 the price of gas.

Guys... Supply and Demand do have a lot to do with it.. China, India and all the others...

However, our president’s failed "Strong Dollar" policy is responsible for 40% of the increase in gas prices.. The entire increase over the last few weeks has nothing to do with reduced production or increased demand. It is solely the result of a declining dollar. It takes more dollars to purchase a barrel's worth of oil because the dollar is worthless...

Now let's talk about why our currency is worthless..

1. Are banks are quickly going under due bad risk decisions based on deviant selling tactics employed by greedy mortgage brokers who could care less about the credit worthiness of the customer. They then lumped all the bad loans and sold them as AAA bonds to even stupider instituitions. The Fed keeps printing money to keep the banks solvent and that just decreases the value of the dollar. It all started with the slime suckers wanting their mortgage sales commissions.

2. One screwed up foreign policy. Some estimate we have spent over 3 Trillion dollars on the Iraq war.. Bush and Chaney’s fiasco will go down in history as the single event that took us from being the lone super power down to just another UN member like the UK, France and Germany.. (No offense to the British, Germans of French.) Think what we could have done domestically to curb our demand for oil if we had 3 trillion dollars to burn.

Now who is laughing all the way to the bank.. Exxon & Halliburton.

Don't get me wrong, I voted for this guy the first time as I thought he would do a good job. However, do I ever regret it.

My $.02

In the next few years our Air Force jets will be refueled by French tanker planes.
Imported gas from imported planes to defend oil nations that will turn their backs on us the first chance they get.

Soon we won't need to worry about the price of gas because none of us will have jobs.

Maybe next time Boeing will not submit a criminal bid...check your facts.

BTW the planes will be made in the US by Grumman ...remember the F14?

Grumman is going to building the AirBus? Is that like the Toyota's that are bult here and they try to pass them as American built but the money still goes back to Japan?

The U.S. military should not be using foriegn equipment period.

Do you seriously think that the U.S. military doesn't already use "foriegn equipment"...

I agree with your premise but the reality is when it comes to military hardware there are some nations that develop better equipment than we do here in the U.S. ... all you have to do is take a look at U.S. military history from the Revolution on...just the nature of the beast... someone is going to figure out how to use a bigger, better rock

I am listening to a Congressman on the radio (Savage) right now and he said the tanker will be built in Europe at a cost of 19,000 U.S jobs. Said there was "bid rigging" involved with this deal as there was in the helicopter deal for Marine 1.

No mention of Grumman?

Agree 100%. It's so easy to point the finger (at Bush). Point your finger at something and you have three pointing right back at ya.

What did Iraq have to do with Terrorism? I am all for pursuing terrorist.. We should be all over Afganistan and Pakistan. There was no Alqueada in Iraq until after we got there.

Do the math: $3 Trillion + 3000 Dead Servicemen + 30,000 wounded Servicemen = $4/gal Gas (it doesn't ad up to me but apparently it does for Exxon) (All in the name of insuring a supply of oil)

In my opinion if anyone should go up for war crime tribunals it should be our President GW Bush, he has butchered more Americans and Iraqies in Bagdad than Sadamm ever did.

We will be paying for this boondoggle for generations to come.

"We should be all over Afganistan and Pakistan"

That just makes too much sense.

America needs an Apollo style energy program (which we could have done with all the money that has been spent on the Iraqi war). With our ingenuity & resources we could invent a paradigm shift in the energy sector. Instead we power this country on black gooey stuff that burns.

Let's create a new energy model and thumb our noses at the Arabs and Russia (for our children's security)!

We just need someone with enough balls in the White House to get it done. Sadly most baby kissers are in deep with the big oil lobby.

Someone said in this thread that when the oil runs out in the Middle East, they will revert back to what they were 100 years ago. Not true, I've been in Dubai and let me just say, they have more $ than anyone can imagine. They are not resting. UAE and the Saudis are starting to build huge solar PV fields in the desert. Their goal? Continue to export energy.

We think we have a prosperous nation...not even close compared to them. We look like paupers. The money has been redistributed and we are not on the receiving end.

BTW, my KC 482 is shipping out next week...I'm giddy!

I was a registered Republican my entire life and quit the party this past year because they spend and waste money just like the Democrats. Lump this together with not securing our borders, giving in on a home bailout to people that over bought and were not honest on loan docs, taking away more of our second amendment rights etc... and I can no longer be a Republican. I am a conservative, a Gulf War veteran, a former law enforcement officer and I no longer relate to the party. Lets hope for an alternative in the future because the Democrats are worse.

No kidding... I was a Young Republican in college, worked on Bush I campaign and did a stint with the CIA. What the current administration has done over the last few years is criminal and is a complete slap in the face to the real Republican Party. What happened to financial conservatism and less government? We spend like lunatics and have more governmental agencies than ever.. A complete waste of money. I believe in a strong military, but I don't subscribe to a war in Iraq to protect the lasting interests of the Bush's family friends in Saudi Arabia. 3000 brave soldiers have lost their lives to support our thirst for Mid-East oil and Osama Bin laden is still on the loose.. That is what we get for leaving the most powerful office in the world to a dim witted, AWOL, drunken, Born Again, not intellectually curious, closed minded buffoon.

The Born Again thing is just a play for votes IMO. Just like his appeal to the working class, pick-up driving, flannel shirt crowd. A ploy for votes. He is a silver spoon Ivy leaguer whose biggest ambition was to be the baseball commissioner.

Interesting perspective! I actually knew our esteemed president in Dallas back in the late 80s when he was 'running' the Texas Rangers baseball team (yeah, right, running it into the ground!). At the time, his father (who I respected immensely) was President, and my first thought on meeting him for the first time was "George, clean your damn shoes, your father's the President", and my second was "whoa...this guy is REALLY stupid"!

Actually, he was a really nice guy to go with for a beer, but I have to admit that much as he comes across on the TV as really stupid, in real life, he is MUCH dumber than on TV!
