289 progress........

Progress has been slow as there are a host of one off parts necessary for the build. Thinking back a 427 would have been much easier as parts are so much more easily sourced.

1) Bought shock's, found them in UK.
2) Ally hood via KarlCSX2498, finishing by Panel Craft
3) Additional hardware via Sagebrush and others
4) Pedals and arms with pivoting action
5) Transverse leafs via custom shop....

Phew....

Looks great! In the end, all the work will be worth it as there aren't enough 289 replicas out there.

Body by Sagebrush. It is a very nicely done cloth body, very light and very rigid.

Thanks Karl............

Geez! I have an original 289 chassis manual from CSX2335 and it's in much better shape than that one. Didn't know it was worth that much!

Hi Jeff,
I have read through your posts that you have made to see if I could get more information about your build. I found some. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions? What rear suspension is going to be in it, specifically if it is leaf springed, what center section will it have? You mentioned something about SAI uprights, what are they exactly? Any pictures? What will it have for brakes? You said you found shocks from the UK, who makes them? I see Edlebrock has some for an original leaf spring car. You can get them through Summit racing and they are pretty reasonable.
Who else makes shocks for leaf spring cars, and any idea what kind of money they are for the different brands? Who made the custom springs? I am not trying to be nosey, but am curious on the price, as I am scratch building a coupe and am looking for similar items. By the way, do you know anyone who makes mounts to install a Jag center section in a 289 leaf spring frame? Maybe I should be building a 289 slab side because
the coupe seems like it will be difficult to get in and out of. Thanks Mark Stuart

I have a friend who will sell you his pair of very nice original 289 Cobra mufflers. He is asking $1K for both. CSX2519? (John P. in Prescott, Az.)
PM me if interested. I have some original Cobra parts, too.

Mark drop me an email....and buckle up as 289 parts are $$$$$

I did post many pictures and descriptions before but the scratch builders forum only holds a few threads then they dissappear.

Maybe a repost is necessary?
