For anyone in the Dallas area you owe it to yourself to meet Pete and check out his scratch built Cobra.

x 2! Especially now that he has that nice new shop. :)

G-Pete 09-18-2012 01:49 PM

Good to meet you too Paul - thanks for the kind words, c-ya on thanksgiving around.

G-Pete 09-18-2012 02:04 PM

Allen, good eye - yes there is some 'flaring' going on.

John, now it's your turn to show me your baby...

G-Pete 09-18-2012 02:20 PM

Meanwhile I wait for the new motor the body will be prepared for the last take off.
It is just too cool the resin of the fiberglass does not stick to the duct-tape. The front flairs were the templets for the rear. Tape and first base of resin and micro balloon mix.

One layer fiberglass

After trimming, securing with clecos for final cut. Preparing resin and riveting the flairs on the body. One night cure.

Maybe I'll be able to drive it over there next week. :3DSMILE: Don't want to gum up your awesome thread with my pictures.

Love the flares! Looking great.

G-Pete 10-24-2012 10:11 AM

After curing the first bond, it was time to grind the old lip off and smooth it out.
Using Baby powder keeps the fibers from touching the skin and keep you "itch free".
More layer of fiber glass - inside and out.
The flares match the front in shape and distance to the tire.

After I put everything new in this project, the decision was made to get a new engine as well.
Lightened Flywheel
Speck 3 clutch.
Build up the accessories.
Head bandages.
Ready for the final drop-in.

Howdy Pete,

Looks great!

I started the engine in my Spyder for the first time this morning. It was loud at 5:30am w/ open headers.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your progress at Thanksgiving.

Paul

Cool Paul, looking forward to thanksgiving. With the "wifys" let's have some steak dinner or so.
