The front will be 56 in from the face of the rotor ( where the wheel mounts) the rear will be 58.250.

Just a quick update, got my new saw set up and am really happy with results very straight cuts. Should be making some additions to the pics soon, got more snow so must clean up yard again, todays paper said we had 27 in of the stuff in Feb,not a record just more than normal.

joey_hv 03-01-2008 06:49 AM

wow..27" of snow! crazy, and I'm working in shorts and t-shirts.

63mercury 03-01-2008 07:38 PM

There is a place in the Keweenaw peninsula sticking into Lake Superior that had 394 in of snow a few years back, they put a gage up on the side of the road showing just how high it was. That's way too much snow.

Got the X and upper front shock mounts tacked up today, will try to get pics posted tomorrow, have to buy another piece of tube and the rear will come together, will be making a small change to the rear frame over the axle but nothing serious.

Work is progressing slowly, waiting for the weather to break so I can go to the recycler to get more parts.

Thanks Patrick, I will try that for my next post. I have the cowl hoop tacked up and tack mounted onto the outriggers, modified the tie rod ends to get the toe in set, will order the proper parts for final assembly. will post pics in the next couple days. Will be going to the scrap yard in the morning to check out the T-bird rotors for fit, they are 10.5 in dia and the caliper brackets will allow standard parts to be used ( all Ford no GM stuff). Carl.

Went to the yard to look at parts and found out they are 4 lug, so I ordered the rotors, bearings, and locknuts from Speedway motors Monday and they arrived tonight via ups. Have posted more in my gallery and will work on the car tomorrow afternoon. Attachment 13902

Picked up a 302 to rebuild, needs boring and maybe a stroker to make it 347.
Also picked up a T-5 now I must find the bellhousing and I can do a fitup before I rebuild the engine. The engine came with a set of 1966 heads which have 57cc chambers, this may be something I can work with. Just gathering parts and finishing the honey-do's till the white stuff flies again.

63mercury 06-15-2008 08:00 PM

Got a bell housing now I can start fitting stuff together and making motor mounts, life is good.

63mercury 07-29-2008 07:32 PM

I picked up another 302 today from a lincoln with less than 40,000 when wrecked and has been sitting for 20 years, cylinders are, were, full of oil in fact I drained over 2 gal out, have the intake off and its clean as new. I will be removing the heads to check the cylinders and do a port and valve job. I'm waiting for my intake from ebay. Now I need a 50 oz flywheel and the work begins.

Jay Little 07-30-2008 06:20 AM

Looks like you are making decent progress. Pardon me while I sit here and be envious!:3DSMILE: Keep up the good work.

Juggernaut 07-30-2008 10:37 AM

Looking good, Carl!:3DSMILE:

It always amazes me seeing a Cobra built from scratch, my hat's off to you!

63mercury 07-30-2008 08:12 PM

Thanks guys, my inspiriation has been Fasterpatrick and all the other scratch builders who like me just take the plunge. Carl

63mercury 09-03-2008 07:02 PM

Another update, got the coil-overs and mounted them, motor mounts are tacked in but need repositioning (motor is too low) and got the dash from a ffr guy, things are comming together. Carl

stengun 11-29-2008 06:16 PM

Howdy Carl,

Hey Guys, I posted this in the classified area but figured more would see it here; I need a T-5 yoke or drive shaft from a Mustang with a T-5 so I can work on my drive shaft. Don't want to buy new if I can help it. Just the old hot rodder in me. Thanks Carl.
