Hey Guys, another update, purchased a set of round FFR tail lites, and side mirror and am now starting to plumb the brake lines. The cold has returned to N.E. Mi. so it's time to get back to the build, hoping to have it ready for inspection in the spring. More later, Carl
|
Howdy Carl,
The cold has returned to Arkansas too. Going to be 29' at 5am. I usually get up at 5:15 and work on my Spyder until 6:40ish but I'm out of propane for my heater so it will have to wait. I have to work 12 hrs Wednesday so it will have to wait until Thrusday. You can check out my build thread at Stengun's Spyder Build - Page 2 - FFCars.com : Factory Five Racing Discussion Forum Photobucket killed my photos so I need to reload them for my thread. Keep up the good work. Paul |
Just a short update, I will have a couple month pause in all work on the car as I need to undergo chemo for curable lymphoma, should be done by mid April, in the mean time I will still be looking for the remaining parts so I can meet my goal of a spring inspection. This is just a slight bump in my road, but with God's continued help things will go forward. I received the news on Wednesday before Christmas and curable was the best present I could have received.

Energy is coming back, starting to work on the car again, making cardboard templates for the body tub and firewalls/ foot boxes, hope to have things ready to fiberglass this fall. More to come later. Carl

Howdy Carl,
I'm glad to hear that you are doing better and feel like working on your car again. For templates I've been using the white poster board that comes in the 10 sheet packs from WalMart. It's easy the cut and I can bend it with my bench top sheet metal brake. Keeps us updated you your progress. Paul |
I have been using larger chunks from the local Tractor Supply, their shipping comes with these as dividers, it comes in sizes up to 55" sq and a little heavier than poster board.

Just about done mounting the radiator, 2 lower brackets to weld and 2 upper brackets to drill and bolt in. Upper hose assy is done lower has parts on the way from Speedway Motors. Footboxes are progressing slowly, trans tunnel is also coming along, next step is to transfer patterns to 16ga steel sheet metal. The trunk area will be my next challange. Pics will follow shortly.

Thanks Ozgar, the last year has been a struggle, but thanks to the Good Lords blessings I have come back and the build continues.

Wery nice job! I saw Ozgur electric cobra nice too!
Congrats guys! Hicsko |
Looks good.
One thing i would say is that make sure you leave oplenty of room for those back 2 headers around the footwells. It has taken me hours on my car to fix the headers in position because so little room when the footbox is so close. It was easy when i dry assembled, but once i had gasket selaer and gaskets in place the job turned into a nightmare. I also made my own footbox covers that cover the steel structures on my chassiss: crendon + - Cobra Club Gallery |
Another update, have purchased 11" rotors, adapters are coming for the calipers, and have the calipers and new banio bolts. The windshield is here, waiting for some parts, gas tank is out for modifications, pickup and breather bungs and hole for the gage assembly, cleaned up the 8" wide ET-IV wheels for the back. Body is setting back on the frame for another fitting, radiator filler needs to be welded up as it's too close to the body plus I don't need it anymore, body will have to come off again to remove the radiator. Hopefully I can get some pics this weekend.
More later Carl. |
I have been trying to post some pics but the site won't allow it so nothing new yet.

Well guys my health issues have changed and I had to part with my baby, the Dr said my cancer is not curable so I sold it to a gentleman with 2 boys and it will be a father/son project, he spent 2 hrs going over the car before deciding to purchase, and it went to a new home Sunday. Thanks for all the help and advice you provided during my build.
