Great progress. Your effort makes me building mine from a kit look like kid with a can of Lincoln Logs at Christmas. Keep us posted.

Just a little update, just got back home from Wisconsin,(973miles round trip) picked up the body for my build. It's a FFR mk ll, that was involved in an accident, the driver side from the door froward was damaged but repairable and the back half is unmolested. The body shop cut and spliced at the front of the doors. I will be on the lookout for doors, hood and deck lid, but for now I can really start fitting the body support tubing onto the frame. I will post some pics later in the week. Carl

Man, you are hard core.

63mercury 10-04-2009 07:42 PM

Is that good? Really I like to take on a challange, and for what I paid for the body I have very little to loose. Carl

Yes. You are clearly going to end up with completed car for far less than what a kit would have cost. And it will be built exactly like you want it. And no one will ever be able to say you didn't earn your stripes. Keep up the good work.:3DSMILE:

Thanks for the input guys, I just aquired some info from the local vette repair shop, the owner & I were in school together, and he advised me in the direction I must go to do a quality repair, says the total time should be about 3-4 hrs over 3-4 days. Now the fun begins in earnest.

Another short update, I got my doors yesterday, they are from a mk l but I can use them and the price was right. All I need now is the hood and trunk and I will have the whole body. I will be starting on the body work and building the birdcage to support it. I must make more room in the shop so the wife's 49 is being moved out and tarped for the winter, hopefully that will be done tomorrow(sunday). Carl.

Yet another update, I picked up my gas tank yesterday, I will post a pic when the wife gets back home with the camera, still trying to get the truck out of the shop, it just won't stop raining. More pic comming later in the week. Carl

Latest update, started body repair, got the wheels I want to run, (91 Lincoln wires) seat belts are here,(3 sets 5pt) positioned gas tank, now must make mounts for it, and as of now the budget has spent less than $6000, still hoping to be road worthy for under $10000.
