Default The real car

Thor, I think you need to read the prior posts better. The original car remains and history has been inspected and thoroughly researched by knowledgeable cognoscenti, incl having spoken with many witnesses, with information supplied to key individuals. The information and photos have just not been widely distributed at the owner's request. The people involved don't want to get drawn into the potential litigation by exposing themselves

I have read the posts and the Syosset car has problems with its pedigree. But all that was given as to "The Real 3016" is I know a guy who heard from another guy who heard from a guy standing next to a knott whole in the fence, that they saw this wrecked chassis and maybe it was on the East Coast or maybe Connecticut but a pile of twisted tubing in a barn that has been there more than 30 years is the real 3016 and nobody knows if in that time maybe somebody cut off a shock tower with a CSX 3016 on it. Not that the Syosset is the real deal but the debate could be settled if this Hidden from the world barn ghost car would come into the light of day. Nedsel you said it " it is time to fish or cut bait"

What don't you understand about the owner's right to privacy and potential litigation? Club Cobra is obviously a public forum, so why would any of the interested parties, including the SAAC Registrar, want to discuss and debate anything here?

Anyone interested in buying the Syosset Cobra can do their own due diligence.

Yep, the only way to never lose in litigation, is to never litigate to begin with. If you're not prepared to duke it out to the end, you probably shouldn't throw a punch to get it started. Who knows, perhaps he's had it all reviewed by some really smart folk who opined "in the end, you might win, or you might lose... really, this one's a coin flip." The whole thing doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. But, then again, I don't know a tenth of the story.

It seems to me a lot of talk from people that do not have an interest in this. I can respect the members putting out what they believe to be the truth. However there are wrecks that have been collected decades ago for various purposes(rebuilds/parts). Some still do remain in this state. Along with that a handful of cobras that have completely dropped out of site whether any registry wants to admit to the facts. They may remain wrecks for all I know. I can't even get my oil changed because my guys are across the pond working with Land Rover on a project. As far as 3016 I have no comment and leave it to the researchers and experts that devote their time in these matters.

I say it kind of depends on the price of the car... It looks to be a nice car. If you can get it for a good price say less than $250k than who cares? Drive it and enjoy it and stop bickering about if it is original or not...
