Default Electronic Fuel Injected FE

Nice looking setup!! What size injectors are you using and are you planning on using air filter of some sort?
Don't like the open trumpet, could inject some foreign objects and damage an expensive motor.

I'm doing the same thing, except mine is a Hilborn FI converted to EFI. I'm planning on using a 40-50 #/hr injectors with Aeromotive fuel pump, Bosch fuel regulator, MAP sensor, MSD crank trigger, wide band O2 sensor and a Motec ECU. Still searching for the injectors at this time and once it is purchased, my EFI system will be on my engine this winter.

Right now I am using Bosch 37 lb/hr injectors that I am funning at 60 psi to get a better spray. This setup was recomended by marrin motorsports, and I had them send me flow matched injectors. We will see if this works in this situation.

Concerning the air cleaners. My plan now (although not finalized) is to make a turkey pan that will mount between the trumpets and throttle bodies. The pan will have a soft rubber seal to the hood. I will mount a large flat K&N filter to the hood with appropriate mounting and sealing. Thus when the hood is down the engine will only recieve ram air through the hood scoop and filter. When the hood is up the horns will be exposed. Can add socks if necessary for cases where the hood will be up for a while, etc. I am concerned about engine rotation under acceleration and how I will seal during this, etc. We will see.

ST:

I pieced it all together myself and made several components at a local machine shop with a CNC Bridgeport. The computer is made by electromotive. The intake is a standard Weber from Inglese Induction. The trottle bodies are from TWM. The rail stock is from electromotive and I CNC all of the injector holes and idle air holes, etc. The box in the middle which mounts the MAP and idle motor was designed by me on AutoCAD and CNCed from a piece of Alum. I made the lines using Earls stuff. I cut off and polished the distributor. I CNCed a crank trigger bracket for the magnetic pickup and had the trigger wheel machine for the front of the ATI damper. Mounted the EGO sensors in the sidepipes facing inward. On and on.

Ken,

Beautiful work! It's nice to see someone coloring 'outside the lines' for a change, if you know what I mean. Sounds like it's been a fun project. And also an expensive one ! You've really done a superb job. I bet making those 3" long -6 fuel lines and that even shorter water line was fun . You must have a good relationship with the guys at that local machine shop! How are you holding the fuel rails down? Do you have any pics of the crank trigger setup? What are you doing for your T-stat housing? Where do the -8 fuel supply lines hook into the Y blocks you have plumbed at either end of the fuel logs?

Man that looks like it was a blast to build! Once I get my cobra on the road I hope to do something similar with a 351C, a SpeedPro ECU and an S trim Vortec I don't think I'll enjoy driving it half as much as I have building everything for it. I'm like you and really enjoy the details. Again, superb job!

Do you have any pics of the rest of you car? Have you used the TEC-II before?

The short water line is a fake with hose clamps. A real one would not fit. Yes the local machine shop guys are great. I love the CNC Bridgeport. It is only two axis though. Currently the fuel rails are just held down buy the fuel lines (and vacuum). Final assembly I plan on attaching them to the "turkey pan." I can take a shot friday of the crank trigger setup and post. I have a standard FE surge tank which was removed when I removed the engine. The -8 supply comes in from the firewall end y-block. The front y-block goes to the regulator.

The rest of the car is still frame off. I do not have digital pictures right now. This is the first time I have built an FE, designed a EFI system and used a TEC II. It has been a huge learning curve and taken way too long.

Ken,

I have visited the Club Cobra site for years and never took the time to sign up. Your topic changed that! You caught my attention as I am in the process of building a simialer injection combintation on an angled manifold. I am finding that I am having to fabricate just about everything. I have to get off of here for tonight but would like to visit with you later.

I hope those are Canadian dollars!?

$4,200 for the intake and throttle bodies?
$1,100 for the 36# injectors?

At $250 per TB plus a weber intake I get around $1,500-$1,750. Even adding in fuel rail (which you buy by the foot for not much) I'm having difficulty coming up with more than $2,000 US as a reasonable cost.

I can't comprehend how you pay $1,100+ for ordinary 36# injectors. Ford SVO will sell you 8-packs of them for $200.

Am I missing something big? Did he maybe include the cost of the TEC into the manifold price?
