Default Too much lube?

A small amount of lube has come out of the breather cap on the top of my Cobra's 9" rear end / axle. More of a weep, not much has come out, just enough to notice.

Should I attempt to drain off some of the lube or forgetaboutit?

Pete,

I may be nuts, but did you by chance fill that rear end before installing it under the car? It could be that there's too much lube in it. Pull the fill plug and see what happens. Let it drain until it quits flowing and put the plug back in. wipe it all off clean and see if the weep is gone.

The full level is level with the bottom of the plug. Some units have a small plug in the very bottom. Don't make the mistake of pulling that one or you'll lose all of the oil.

Al

Yeah mine used to "weep" out the "breather" too. After running it HARD on the track especially. I put a rubber hose on the "nipple" at the axle and ran it up higher than the rear end. Solved the problem nicely, no more "oil stains". I go fast, but want to look good to, lol.

One foot of 3/8" rubber hose run as described by Excaliber above works well, SPF does it from the factory

I filled the diff when the rear was on the car. I'll pull the fill plug just to make sure that I didn't over fill ... and then add a length of moon-glow fake stainless braid hose to the vent.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Black rubber, that way nobody sees the damn thing. Besides, anything on the underside doesn't stay shiny long anyway.
