No. According to Preston Miller at RDI in Moresville, NC (a supplier of OEM Ford Motorsport parts for many NASCAR teams) a stud girdle is not necessary for a street driven stroked Windsor that is driven hard on the street and is used from time to time on track days. I considered a girdle for my 393 inch engine with an SVO block which is used as set out above. For the record, RDI, in concert with Ford, builds an aluminum Windsor block which they build into a 427 inch engine which develops monster torque and power.
