Default Stud Girdle

Is a stud girdle a wise investment for a 351W / 392 engine? This will be a moderate(425 - 450 HP)street / strip engine.
Thanks,

No. According to Preston Miller at RDI in Moresville, NC (a supplier of OEM Ford Motorsport parts for many NASCAR teams) a stud girdle is not necessary for a street driven stroked Windsor that is driven hard on the street and is used from time to time on track days. I considered a girdle for my 393 inch engine with an SVO block which is used as set out above. For the record, RDI, in concert with Ford, builds an aluminum Windsor block which they build into a 427 inch engine which develops monster torque and power.

I wouldn't run a stroked motor on the track without one...I have both a top and bottom girdle...Makes the motor stronger on the top end which you need if you plan on runnig it hard, and that's the only way a Cobra should be run...

Are you talking about a stud girdle for your valvetrain, or a main cap girdle?

I would prefer to use an individual shaft rocker sytem to a rocker stud girdle.

I would go for a 4 bolt splayed main cap conversion before I'd use a main cap stud girdle. Some engine builders believe that main cap girdles can contribute to transferred harmonic vibrations / loads that wouldn't otherwise present a problem.
