Red Line and Jag power lock diff

Any one running Red Line in there limited slip Jag diff? Thoughts? Impressions? Advise?

Yo Rick,

A while back I asked Mike Bontoft of CWI about this. His advice was two bottles of the GM limited slip additive in addition to the usual gear oil.

Mike used to sell a British-made additive but apparently he couldn't get it when I needed it, and maybe not at all since.

If you need more info I can probably do some archaeology and get you some specifics as to what I used.

Mike was not receptive to Redline as I recall.

Thanks Tom. The power loc is a salsbury (sp) type unit isn't it? I seem to recall some where that the synthetics where not good for those.

Any one else?

Two tubes, 8 Oz. total, of GM additive, the diff will take about 2 quarts of lube. I had some chatter problems - fixed with two tubes of antislip and Moroso climbing gear lube as ERA recommended.

The PowrLok is a little different than most LSDs because it has ramped cross shafts that compress the clutch pack as more power is applied.

I would follow the ERA advice. They have alot of factual data and they advise the use of Moroso Climbing Gear Oil which is an SAE 90 weight oil (you can get this from Summit) combined with 8 Oz. of Amalie Limited Slip Differential Additive or 2 tubes of GM Limited SLip Additive (GM Part # 1052358).

The additives make the lube slippery and stop "ratcheting" or sticking and clunking when you go around a sharp corner.

If you cannot find the Moroso CGO, then use an 80W-90 GL5 gear oil with one of the two Limited Slip Additives.

Sounds like I will go the Moroso route. I live just a couple of miles from Jegs and they have it in stock along with the additive.

Although, on the other hand, I probably would blow lots of bucks if I were close to them.
I found a real nice fluid pump (plunger type) at Sears that fits into an oil bottle. This has been the best thing to pump heavy oil into the differential as well as the trannie. I do not remember the part number from Sears.

After much thought on the subject I choose to use 8 oz. of the GM limited slip additive and Moroso Climbing Gear oil. While I can't say that I can tell a difference it is working perfectly. Two nice long black striped left on the road when I jump on it!
