Exclamation Need help on part # for West Coast cobra!!

I am Very near to reviving my POISSON girl ! and the only missing element is that I have a broken right front tie rod. It's the top of the line, new front end from WCC (built in 2001/2002/ Power assist) Pic attached of my front end. There are also a few more in my picture gallery. Thanks in advance for any help on make/parts number! I can be reached at AlicethruQQglass@excite.com or reply here.. thanks

A broken tie rod? How in the hell does that happen on a new car?

Angry And in less than 3,000 miles to boot!

She was only taken to 80 mph twice and most of the miles on her were cruising at 45 mph or less. No racing at all, except a few times when I put my foot in there for a second or two, after 2,000 + miles.

If the rest of the car was built correctly by West Coast Cobras (Vern Redel) then I would have guessed it to be a defective tie rod.. but at this point with all the other shoddy work performed on this car I pretty much KNOW who the culprit is. And he will no more honor his written warranty on this defect than he will for his defective clutch and motor work.

If anyone has a clue what to look for it will make my parts guy's job easier.. we are going to pull it and try to ID the rod next week.

Did WCC build your dad's car??

B&B,
Maybe I don't understand what you are looking for, so bare with me here. Do you mean the tie rod end? If so, take a picture of your rack and post it so we can see what brand it is. Take that picture to a competent auto parts rep and he should be able to hook you up......... If I understand you correctly.
Steve
BTW,
Glad to read you are almost on the road again. Hang in there buddy.

Default Well, I'm not a front end specialist.. but

I do believe it is the tie rod end. The guys at the tranny shop spotted this (and a lot of other "things" (defects) I have now fixed)

It's in the picture above, the piece/shaft with the rubber boot at each end, that runs horizontal. If no-one can help with a parts number then I'll have to pull it when she's on the rack and we'll try to match it up in a parts book.

Thanks for the well-wishes. At least I won't miss out on this summer's fun. A coupla' weeks and at least she'll be back on the road although there's still a lot to do to get her where I wanted her in the first place. If I did not have the resources I would now be looking at a worthless hulk in my garage all summer

B&B,
Damn this site is slow lately...... Bummer. Anyway I drew an arrow pointing to the tie rod.
I looked at the picture you posted again. It is hard to tell, but it looks like your tie rod rubber boot is torn. Is that of which you speak?
Steve
PS I have to go to bed. I'll take a look here in the morning.

Default The metal rod itself is broken !

I took it and rattled it around when she was up on the rack

The arrow is pointing right at the rod.. thanks!

Have someone else call Vern and order a tie rod. He can't be at odds with everyone. Beats the heck out of trying to find it elsewhere.

Good suggestion.
B&B,
Are you SURE it is broken? If it is, that would be HIGHLY unusual. I am VERY interested in seeing a picture of the offending part in all it's glory when you get it out.
Steve
