Default Anyone Have This Application?

Ford 460+McLeod Modular Bell Housing+Top Loader?

Driveline does not require "C" shaped spacer. If spacer is used, tranny sits too far rearward in vehicle, tranny input shaft will not engage pilot bearing. Be CAREFUL!

Make sure to measure the stack up. . . the stock spacer is .500 and in some (mine) applications is too thick.

The correct spacer is: #8703-11 (1/4 " thick)
and the correct hollow dowels are: 8707-1 (2 required)

I will post again when all is re-assembled . . . in the mean time, all this info provided to me by Red at McLeod . . . Thanks Red, for pulling my onions out of the fire!!!

Default Out of the Fire . . .

and into boiling oil!!!!

Paid for spacer and one day UPS delivery to find out that the cover plate that was included with the bell housing assembly WILL NOT work with the new spacer! Called Red and found out that my cover plate or "cap" is not drilled to accomodate all applications. I'm told that all of the "in stock" caps are being drilled and c'bored. Unfortunately for me, the "Dash 2" caps are the last ones to being done. I've got a car up on the hoist in a stall at the Hot Rod shop without parts that will work! Did I mention that I paid special charges to get them here in short order only to find that they won't work! There are no common holes, either clearance, tapped or counter bored, between the cap and bell housing. When my mechanic called to tell me that the new spacer won't work, I just about had a stroke!!! Did I mention that I paid for UPS one day delivery?

I've decided to have the Hot Rod shop dowel the new spacer to the cap, transfer the holes and drill them thru the cap. Turn the cap over and c'bore on the tranny side. I willl then be able to bolt the cap to the bell housing thru the spacer with only perhaps longer FHCS required. I should get my car back by 10/21 or 10/22/04 and with any luck at all (yeah right) should be able to drive a little bit yet this Fall.

It is really starting to "hurt" to read your posts.

I feel I am reliving all of the "fun" I had building my car.

I certainly hope this is worth it.

Good luck.

Tru,

I've had the pleasure of driving my car prior to my driveline woes and believe me, it's truly worth it! I'll keep at it until all the bugs are worked out. . . if I don't go broke first!

I should have the car back soon . . . the weather forecast calls for lots of rain.

Talking At Last!

Tru,
I picked up my car yesterday afternoon and it drives like a dream!
Clutch pedal is much lighter than before and shifts smoother. I'm very happy with the work that Slim's Hot Rod Shop did for me.
I took it for a spin last night (temps in low 40's) but the roads were dry and I just couldn't help myself. Full face helmet would have helped!

I'm going to wait awhile yet to put her away for the winter, perhaps we'll have some sunny 50's left yet?

Regards,
Kimba

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have mine in soft storage. The low forties nights and with the hockey season in full swing, I figured I'd wait for spring.

Posted a front picture of the car before I swapped the seats. Check it out.

So, if you are running around in the Clarkston/Ortonville area, let me know. Where does Anway have his meetings for the GLCC?

Let me know.
