Hi!

Try the Olthoff Polyurethane mounts...problem should be solved then. Even with that mounts it can be tight at the passenger side - but no contact to the fiberglass.

There are no "supplied" motor mounts on an SPF, they are whatever the installer uses. SPF does not supply them with the chassis, only the engine pedistals. Olthoff uses the poly mounts as standard on the install they do. Many cars have been done with parts store Chinese mounts which are not up to the torque especially on Windsor applications.

A friend does Boss 302 restorations and has found the aftermarket engine mounts for Windsors can be off in the vertical dimension by as much as 1/2" placing the air cleaner or Shaker too high in the chassis. Due to the design the FE mounts are less of a concern but still the poly mounts are worthwhile.

Also remember there are spacers to use under the engine pedistals to center the pipe in the opening as well as the "wedge" spacers for the sidepipe to header connection. The wedge spacers can raise, lower or move the sidepipe fore/aft in the opening.

A friends MK III needed a wedge on the left side to raise the pipe away from the bottom of the opening. We didn't want to raise the left side of the motor as it was within 3/16" of being level in the chassis.

Hi!
Have the same problem..the left side is perfectly centered but the right side is lower as it should be in the openening. So the wedge spacer could be the solution. Do you have any pics of it and an idea where i can buy it?

Remember you will now need two gaskets for the header to sidepipe connection.

Slow down. none are perfectly centered. If you don't have the poly mounts install them first. the only time a wedge is needed is if the pipe does not run parallel to the body. if you want to spend money give me call and you can send me a check. 99% of the time with stock pipes it just requires a flat shim under the motor mount. the wedges will make a drastic change and have never seen a wedge required to "center" the pipe in the hole.
