On my 289 FIA, seeing no further track time, I removed my Avon's and added a simple set up blackwall Cooper Cobras for the street:
235/60/15 for the front
295/50/15 for the rear

The Avons I replaced were the same sizes, and I have no clearance issues, nor rubbing of any kind. Having used the Coopers on other street driven Cobras I've owned, they are already a known entity for me. If you are not planning any track time, do not over think the process, as you do not need a tire rated at sustained speeds of 140mph or above.

Isn't it kind of humorous how people constantly wish for "the good old days" and will (especially in cars) search out obsolete pieces and parts - but really forget that the technology of the good old days was perfectly awful compared to today's versions. Tires and brakes come to mind.

Replacing Dunlop GT Qualifiers on my ERA #727: I see that Goodyear has taken over Dunlop but this model not available. Anyone know what the equivalent is or if they even have one?

Assuming they don't, tell me your thoughts on these replacements: BF Goodrich Radial T/A? Cooper Cobra? or M/T S/T? ... and go!

Thanks

Indeed, although, putting a set of 20" rims on a Cobra makes it look more like a rolling cartoon than anything else.

If you want AVON tires, we have a great deal on the AVON CR6ZZ from Sasco Sports.

We need at least....6 sets to purchase. They will let me know on what the price would be, the more people we have, the better price we get. I'm going to get these on other website forums.

So if you're definitely wanting the Avons, let me know asap to get on the list !

UPDATE- I have 21 people here and 6 on Club Cobra for the Group Buy !
I was planning on ending it tomorrow, but I'll think if we want to extend it or not.

Second Update-

AVON TIRE GROUP BUY.

I called my contact last week, but he was on vacation, so I'll try on Monday. By reading the link below I don't know if we'll have problems getting our tires or not. It was not,....a problem when I set this up weeks ago.

I bought my brother's Cobra 3 years ago. He had some nice looking BFG TAs. Probably had 5000 miles on them. The first few times I put my newly acquired SPF # 633 to the test the back end did not want to stay BACK!

I asked my brother how old these almost new looking tires were and he said about 9 years old.

I put a set of Cooper Cobras, ( less then $600) and WOW what a difference. The back end stays put. Much safer.
