Thanks Craig!

I am trying to get my schedule together to go, as my daughter lives in Columbus now.

Of course I would love to see the crew again!

The side pipes are as advertised Craig. They purr below 3000 rpms, but 1/2 throttle or more and "HOLY SMOKES!"

What do you use to polish yours?

Bill Wells 03-07-2009 11:20 AM

Eric, looks great indeed . lotsa eye candy under the hood ...

and blue paint, how unique, not many around painted blue . did you paint the dear whistles body color too ?

If ya dont make it to the Woodward Dream Cruise this year (you are overdue for a return ), i WILL see you at LCS - with your daughter living in Columbus you have no excuse to not be at LCS . Bill

I thought about "resale red", but decided against that  :p

Then again I could have supercharged my motor ;)

Eric

The best I have found for the pipes is Perfect-it. A 3M newpaint finish rubbing compound. You can use it by hand, but cleans up the fastest with a small polishing wheel.

Craig,
If I remember right, you prefer to use it by hand - correct???

Eric, the car turned out great. Congrats.

Someday when you're ready to move onto #4 we can talk about which shade of red you want to buy. :D

Before I go the way of the Red Rocker, I may want to build a snappy set of those rear wheels you have so I can tuck bigger rubber under the car.

However, these Avons are very nice. Great ride, sticky.

Hello GA,

Finally got to see the pictures, and the video. Looks great and sounds even better! Congratulations! I hope to make it up that way some day and possibly meet you and see the car.

Are there any shows in Missouri during the summer?

Nantucket427 03-09-2009 07:21 AM

I am excited for you!

I am going for:

FAK 48'S

LOL, not sure if the Baptist's at the state capital will let me have it though, thinking I am refering to something other than Weber's.

I finally got plates today, and while it was 60 degrees out, I took 2715 for a spin to a local car cruise, putting 40 miles on.

Dynatek Classic Injection system? If it has a draw back, it's that the system is throttle happy. When you dip into the throttle, the car goes! 40 miles is not enough to really judge, but I think a different (better) computer (4 quadrent) would be a tuning plus. But the system delivers. The car starts right up, idles at 1100 rpm for 20 seconds, then drops down to 850 rpms, lopping nicely:D

At decel, the engine "flutters" through the pipes. I'm not used to hearing that sound. The engine doesn't switch from accel to decel well if you are not careful. You have to watch the accelerator pedal to keep from minor lurching.

The engine really dictates what the car is doing. Maybe a steel flywheel is needed. You would not want to lift going over a hill at speed. The clutch is my friend ;)

Manners on the highway. At 70 mph, I am at 2350 rpms in 5th gear, just perfect sound and throttle. The 496 is a beast. Crazy power, Nice job Keith!

The Avon tires? SICK!! They stick like glue, even to cold cement.

I will get some more miles on it, and report back. Videos will be coming.

That's one heck of a engine bud. Wish I could have been in the seat with you.
Were getting 4"-6" of the white stuff this weekend.

I don't recall what gearing and trans. you have ? (I assume a 600 TKO)
With my 331's and TKO, I'm running 2,000 rpm at 60 mph. Can't wait for my KC new alum. 482 build.

Give me a call when you can.

3:55's in the rear, TKO600, and 295/50/15's

I was a little worried because the Second Strike calculator said I would be over 2500 rpms at 70 mph with the .82 final gear

http://www.secondstrike.com/Technical/GearCalc.asp

But it all worked out ;)

E

FUNFER2 04-03-2009 10:00 PM

That was my thinking with a .82 with 3.55's. Now, I'll have to do some re-thinking.

Your car is fairly new. Does it have a 3:55? I think it may be a 3:46.

Jeez, I thought it was 3:55. I'll check again when I get to the office tomorrow. I'd almost think I got the .68 5th but today the other speeds/rpms were not per the chart either.

Time to jack up the car and check.

sparks 04-04-2009 02:46 PM
