Default C-4 Suspenson

I am changing my front suspension from the original fiber spring/sway bar to coil/over Aldan adjustable shocks. I have the E-M with a 502 GenVI/ 6-speed and all C-4 suspension. The front end was way to "stiff" using the stock set up so I am going with coil/overs and 300 lb springs to start with. Has anybody already done this and if so, what spring did you use?
Thanks, Jim

Can't imagine that your front is too stiff, esecially with the added weight of a big block.....running the C-4 myself and it's just right.

I kept the stock motion ratio and used 350# springs with an all aluminum small block and 425# springs with an aluminum head/iron block, small block.

Jim, . . .Do you have poly or rubber bushings? Polyurethane busings can add significant ride harshness to your vehicle.

Jim, I'm useing c-4 front suspension. Pro shocks, 500# springs, poly bushings and no sway bar. Handles really well. I have pictures in my gallery.

One more comment if you want my opinion. . . .. 300# springs are good for cruising if you have a 2800# car. I have a race car that uses 450# springs and it rides pretty smooth. In fact, we are planning on going with 600# springs and I run a 4.3L bowtie block. I guess I agree with your question, ... try to get some experience from the people on the website and gear it to what you plan to do with the car. If you race the car at all 300# springs would be too low in rate.....IMHO.

Default Aldan shocks and springs

I race a Grand Sport Corvette replica with Aldan equipment. I use 350# springs up front with C-4 suspension and a fairly heavy small block (Dart Little M block).
Front sticks very well.

I've tried every rate from 350# to 800# and I'm now using 650# springs and the standard bar.

Scottj -
How should an amatuer such as myself go about determining the best spring rate for running my car on the track?

Tommy,

I just put a set up in it that felt comfortable to me. And what I'm comfortable with is a car that is neutral or just a smidge free on entry and then tightens when you pick up the gas. On my car my main focus became hooking the car up when picking up the gas. To do that I run quite a bit stofter rear wheel rate than the front and 55% rear weight bias. I would say that I'm giving up steady state cornering grip for cornering grip while accelerating. Keep in mind, prior to '03 R&G I had no road course or asphalt track experience, all my experience was on dirt. Translation: you probably don't want to listen to any advise from me
