What do you mean by fit them? Are the holes cut in the body allready or are you trying to figure out the placement?

My car has two pieces of angle iron(or similar) epoxied to the inside of the body that the louvers bolt to. The bolts are not easy to remove or replace but I did manage with some patience. I'm guessing on the size but they may be 6-32 thread & they were button head SS bolts about 1/2" long with hex insert. 4 on each side.

Hi thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The holes are already cut into the bodywork its just that there is nothing to attach the vents onto they seem to fit ok but i need some sort of strong glue or bonding material.I have just tried to fibre glass them but that is proving to be very messy and i dont want to damage the paintwork.
Can you sujest anything?
Thanks
Cameron

If your going to epoxy them in, you need to thicken the epoxy. Epoxy alone won't be strong enough, and will run too much.

What you need to do is mix some 'wood flour' into the epoxy. The best source is if you have a palm sander with a dust collector, mix some of that extra fine saw dust in with the epoxy to thicken it. Besides thickening it and keeping the epoxy from running, it will make the joint much stronger.

I would drill a couple small holes in the pieces that will be attatching so as to hold better also.

Otherwise look into an epoxy product like PC-7 which may or may not be available where you are.

I used fiberglass matting and plain resin to attach the brackets to the body. I'd suggest poking some holes in the angle piece or creating some other kind of "teeth" for the resin to hold to. I put the threaded rivets into the brackets 1st, then bolted them onto the louvers and held the whole thing onto the body by strapping over a piece of wood on the outside. Then I glassed in the mounting brackets. The only mess is getting all the drips before they harden. If you can work quickly, mix the resin a little hot to minimize the time before it takes a set. That'll eliminate a lot of the drips. A rag soaked in Xylol will clean it up nicely before it sets.
