Dave,

Y'know, if this continues to be a PITA and you decide to solve the problem once and for all, call me and we'll work on getting you a set of these to solve your problem once and for all...

Hmmm... maybe I should know better than to make this statement on a list having 99.999% carbs.

-Neil.

OK...here's the poop.

I put the hose in the gas can then into the fuel pump....

The fuel pressure still dropped meaning the only thing left is the fuel pump. I bought another one from Car Quest and will put it on in the morning.

Default Fixed Some...found others...

OK Kids,

Here's the poop.

Car ran beautifully running my existing pump off of the gas can but.........the pressure still dropped after starting at 7 lbs.

I went to CarQuest and bought that $24 OEM pump and put her on...............SAME THING!!!!! Nell (my wife) came out to the garage after I shut the car off and noticed that the Fuel pressure guage was reading 3 lbs without the engine running! Hmmm???, tapped on the guage and it now read 3.25 lbs! So, I have a bad fuel pressure guage.

On the "found others" side, I have #1 and #6 Cylinders Sparkplugs to be black. Cleaned all of the plugs (the rest were fine) and restarted the car. Sounded like a new engine. Ran like a scalded cat!!! Why only #1 and #6....I'm not sure? Also, found my oil leak on the left side of the car. Car is running 50 lbs of oil pressure and oil is splashing up past the baffle on the drivers side valve cover and soaking the air breather to the point that it is dripping on #5 header and left side of the engine compartment! Could I have "blow by" on #1 and #6 cylinders? Is there any special oil that is recommended bor "break-in"? I have Penzoil 10W-40 on standby. I may just change oil and filters just for kicks. I also have (I think) a grounding issue with my fan that is causing my ignition to run after the key is off. Tach goes to 8000 rpm (though engine does not) for about 5 sec then the car shuts off. Doesn't do that with the fan "off".

Lots more fun to come....watch this space. What a great learning experience though!

Dave,

Glad you figured out the problem. It seems the easy ones always turn out to be the toughest because we forget the obvious.

My car also drips out the oil filter in the valve covers. The problem I have found is that the cause of that ( for the most part) is the engine is not breathing well. I do not have a PVC or a vacuum line to hook one to. Webers, remember. I have a vacuum plummed in under the Nitros Oxide into the intake and that gave me a vacuum port, however I am not sure that line is big enough to carry a PVC and the break booster. In the side of my Milodon oil pan I have a threaded port opening that is blocked closed with a threaded plug. I am thinking that if I put a line in that threaded opening and hook the other end to the exhaust I will in effect create a pan evacuation system. I hope I can get this done before Austin, But I need to fix the doors again first.

FUN FUN FUN

See you in Austin
