Well, Fred, I know about that....
as a matter of fact....
while I was cruising south on 75, I geared up (in my head) for the big drive up- then- down the East bound 635 ramp. Checked my speed, (working speedo- yea!!!!), checked the gauges, and all ws fine. Took a big breath, (I hate being up high!!!- especially in the Cobra) and prepared for take off. Took the curve a little quick, but not too bad, and zoomed down towards 635. Remembered to breathe, (kinda like having a baby, or coming out of a tight turn on a track, pick your comparision based on your personal experience), then as I merged into traffic once again checked gauges. $h!t!!!! Couldn't believe my eyes. No speedo. 7.9 miles on my new gauge, and doesn't work. Again. And, there's good news/bad news with the fuel gauge. It works. (good) and I watched the needle move 1/4 tank for the drive home. (bad) Wow, it drinks the gas! Guess ignorance is bliss when the gauge doesn't work; just fill up all the time and you don't really notice if it's a lot or not. Kinda like oh, well, put in 20 bucks or 5 bucks or 30 bucks, etc......
So, we will do some tranny work in the winter, and maybe at that time the speedo cable in tranny will be found to be the culprit. It is most annoying, as any time I've gone to the track I've never known how fast I can actually go, as I can't really on you liars to give me an accurate guesstimate of my speed. I recall hearing "about 25" at Hallett... yeah, right....
So, I did experience one of the newly opened ramps. I don't know if I'll ever get on the highest one, as it really scares me, and I never have the need (so far) to go from east bound to north.
See ya'll @ Nationals! I'm IN. (bringing my girl buddy, too)....
Kristen
