Exclamation

No slicks, all on street tires. Even had a fire suppresion system in that car, and ran only in my full fire suit with SA2000 enclosed helmet. Perhaps you went on a day when the NHRA folks were not there supervising the Tech and track that day......... If so, more power to you for sneaking in under the radar................

SuperGonzo,
Now why would I want to drag my stock 73 SD T/A to e-town & race cars that look stock but in all honesty have non stock drivetrain. My T/A runs 13s and would be no match for say, a 68 GTO with a '350hp' 400 pontiac that really is a 472 stroker with stock PMD chrome valvecovers being the only original stock part. I suppose I could start modifying my poncho to compete but then it wouldn't be stock anymore. Nothing like racing or tear-ashin' around town in my Cobra. I'll tell my GTO buddy about your shindig, he'll be interested. (stock appearing 11sec goat)

Bill S.- I think the techs change the rules to suit their moods

Default what are you driving

I drive these....www.kingofmusclecars.com and about 5 other muscle cars.

maxrpm: "Now why would I want to drag my stock 73 SD T/A to e-town & race cars that look stock but in all honesty have non stock drivetrain.">>>>>>>>>.Maybe you should re-read the rules a bit closer, there are 2 classes Factory Stock and F.A.S.T class.

Your car fits perfectly into the Factory Stock class, and why should you come??? Because its a great time. And because its fun. And because you willfind out more about some cars including your own then you ever knew. Oh yes it does require you to stop whining and get up and do something, I can't help that, but come out, meet some dedicated purist like yourself and some dedicated racers and have a good time.
-------------------------------------------
My own cars run 13.00's , there is no way I personally am going to win anything....you know what????? SO WHAT !!
----------------------------------------

There are very few cars (maybe 5) break the 11.99 rule in mid-July.Re-Read rules again regarding this.
Also that rule is currentlyunder review and maybe modified for street licensed vehicles before July rolls around.

Good for you Gonzo!

I used to run my 1969 Z28 / LT-1 & auto all the time. I think I was running a 12.5 or 13 second qtr.

I also used to crew for Dick Smith when he ran team car for Direct Connection Dodge, he ran a '70 Challenger Hemi w/ auto. good stuff.

Default You got it wrong!

Super, you hurt my feelings calling me a purist! I'm far from that but I know all too well what happens when I start changing little things, I get outta hand. I've ruined too many original musclecars and can't be trusted! Before you know it my T/A will have a big block chevy-9inch- transbrake and other destructive stuff. You know how tempting that is already! Nononono! You wanna hear about the 1970 black on black 4-speed W-30 I bought from the orig. owner in 1989 with 60,000miles on it and the reg/insp. stickers from 1976 still on the shield? NO YOU DON'T! I'm watching a friend ruin his beautiful GTO at this very moment. The car is a family heirloom bought new. Stunning Black/red int. Virgin car. Went racing at E-towns Pontiac day & grenaded the original engine. Built a big motor and now he's starting to look at other mods. And so it begins. I think I know your blue Stang. I've seen it out east at LID, no? I might even have taken pics of it or have it on video. Nice! Like I said in my first post- make a professional copy of your gig & I will buy and enjoy it but I couldn't bring myself to sit there and watch. In the path of life I'm trying to learn from my mistakes and one mistake is letting myself believe I can be trusted to leave anything mechanical alone. Racing!Thats what my Cobras for.

Ok max....yes you have seen my stang at LID, don't know about this year though, the tracks supposed to be closed. Might stay open until Sept.

Too bad you won't bring the 73 SD/TA...those cars are among the fastest in Factory Stock condition. send me pics if you have any.

Thanks again

What class will I be in with my 73 CJ5 Jeep - 252 stock motor- I never tried but I think it will do the low 20's.

I think I would end up a spectator on this one, parts keep falling off my car , hopefull I can get enough crazy glue to keep it together . Well have to get in to the garage and start to prep for it, now if I could only remember where I left my tools.......

max: its funny you say " I promise not to take it apart" because I have a long time friend since we were 5 years old, who wants to buy it, but I won't sell it to him, because I am afraid HE WILL take it apart...for no good reason. had to laugh when i saw your post.
