Looking to rebuild IDA 48

I am looking to rebuild my IDA 48. I have heard of using Mineral spirts to clean the carbs. Other I hear of using Carb parts cleaner.

My bodies are polished and would hate to ruin the finish with the carb parts clean( not sure if this will happen).

I would like to ask you opinion as to which I should use or is it the same?

Also, what would be a good amount or time to let the carbs sit in the solution.

Thanks for any other helpful hints.
