They are caps for the oil cooler lines where they enter the oil cooler.

The anticipation is the best part. Not many times in your life do feel that emotion and excitement. Savor the moment and enjoy it.

This is true. Once you start going through the process of the shakedown runs, resolving little gremlins, dealing with your first rock chip, etc., then the romance starts to wear off some. But after a long day or when you need an escape, all you have to do is sit in the seat and fire her up and suddenly your problems dissipate. I believe this to be true with any performance car, cobra or otherwise.

The single biggest drawback right now is the car is being assembled in California and I am in China, I can't even take a peek at what's happening other that at a picture. Thus the angst is excrutiating. Roush supplied me with the sound during the dyno test and the engine started with a roar like a lion, no kidding, thus the Beast was born. Oh well, I have only got 26 days and ten hours to go, but who's countin"? John, AKA, tin-man

I have had mine (SPO 2811) now for a few years and about 8k miles and it is still a thrill to drive. The closest thing to a high performance motorcycle for a mind clearing drive. I have had a number of performance cars (Currently a Z06 Corvette and a Porsche Carrera ) and they are fun BUT NONE OF THEM come close to the Superformance. When you light that thing up you will know you are in something unique....you will love it.

Default Right around $100k?

Tin-man: When all is said and done how much will you have invested in this turn-key? I'm guessing at least $100k? ($50k for the roller and Ca. sales tax, $30k for the motor, trans and air intakes, $20k for the Voss install and miscellaneous?)

Hang in there Tin Man,
I would plan on late January as not much gets done around the holidays anywhere anymore. As I suggested before, given the short itme you will have her every year when on break from China, even it is takes more time let them works out the bugs before you take possession. Roush has a looooooong history of slow for repair work once the customer takes possession and ask for as much paperwork/proof of install as possible. For spending well north of $100K on a car you would think you would get more paperwork than a 2 page receipt of the list of the car and compnents. I would also make sure you ask for Roush warranty in writing (I got none) and scpific things that will void the warranty. Roush is fuzzy on those details but will be fast to try to void the warranty saying you did something worng if the motor has problems. Take it form someone who knows the hard way!

John, that's pretty good advice from Ron. Have them break the car in for you and take it for at least a hundred miles of driving before they pronounce it "fit for delivery."

Default Well, I'm not sure I know what to think about this.

Erick of Voss Performance tells me the December 21st pick -up date is off. Bummer huh after waiting for almost a year? Seems Roush forgot to ship a spacer plate and flex plate with the engine and they are currently making them. Are these component integral to an engine and if so does this make any sense that these would be left out of the crate package? I ceratainly hope this in not the harbinger of things to come, I dropped US53,175 on this engine tranny/combo so I am expecting that everythng will work well. Naivette ya think? tin-man

Patrickt, only issue is it will not be registered in California, so maybe drivin' it aroud for a few hundred miles may not be possible, but I will ask. John, AKA, tin-man

For $125K they could slap on a Dealer's Tag from someone and take it on a lengthy shake-down cruise. For that kind of money it needs to be absolutely, 100%, perfectumundo. I know we all love our cars, but that just seems like too much dough.

Wow, after visiting Voss in California an bein' all jazzed up at seeing my car after a very long and tiresome 28 hour flight from China, seems there is still a loooooooong way to go with the install. The current estimate is early February partly due to the holidays and also seein' as Roush has yet to deliver on the missing parts for the engine- tranny assembly. I guess a lot of the install is driven around the engine tranny combo being installed first and everything else follows.

Well at least I got to get a feely touchy experience and saw the roller from all angles, checked out the Mickey T's, paid my respects to the Beast and his torque [really mean lookin'] and took a pile of pictures. Eric of Voss Performance tells me he will be driving the car for well over 100 miles during the pre-hand over phase to sort out any "issues", debug rattles, screw tightening phase, etc. so that's good. Certainly better than me drivin' in Phoenix six months later and finding several "issues" and having it shipped back to California for fixin'.

Anyway, while slightly dissapointed I can wait an' jus' keep lookin' at the pictures and yelling varooom, varoom.

So, dear readers, tin-man wishes all, a fine Christmas Holiday, and a New Year filled with Joy, Happiness, Good Health and all the pleasures that come to you while driving your Cobra.

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

Hang tough Tin Man but I have found you have to hold Roush' feet to the fire before they make something right. They eventually did right by me but I was without the motor and car for 5 months. Hopefully they have worked the bugs out.
