Well my long Cobra road has come to an end. I stated on my first post that I had sold my Chevy Powered Contemporary Classic Cobra replica or as I liked to say my HotRod that is shaped like a Cobra. On April 11 2015 the new owner took delivery. It was a hard road with some hiccups along the way, and a very big one at the end that almost came to a fist fight. But we were able to work it out. The new owner is a good guy, a car guy, a HotRod guy and I know he will love having a Cobra replica. He loves the Chevy power and will keep it that way. I hope he joins us here on Club Cobra and shares his story. I am going to dive back into Cobra world, I am going to look for an Arntz/Butler Switch the front end out, build an all aluminum small block Chevy stroked to around 427 cubes tide to a 6 speed. Let the fun begin.

Then I suppose resale value isn't important to ya.
(I'm just kidding around, not trying to create another 15 pages of nonsense).

If he does become a new member one would hope he'll elaborate a bit more on the road bumps and near fist fight. A little more drama for the group is always good...

It's probably not that exciting. The buyer probably figured out at the last minute that Thor's Cobra had a Chevy in it. Thor likely smoothed the situation over with the "Chevy's have more power and better resale value than an FE Cobra" approach and the buyer bought it "hook, line and sinker."

Drama.
Trolling.
Whatever you wanna call it. Honestly, what other reason would there be to see a bunch of guys bantering back and forth?
Speaking of trolling, whatever happened to AL427SBF? Jamo put the zipper on him?

Hmmm....
In reading a few threads, I'm coming to the conclusion that some Cobras have Chevy motors, and some attornies drive Cobras, but no attornies drive Cobras with Chevy motors.

No, I think he's just taking a breather. I'm sure he'll return.

He's gone, by choice or not. Remember the series of threads about an alloy Cobra maker in FL. I'll omit the name of the company to protect the innocent, and the guilty too.

I have an LS6 in my Cobra tribute and love it. I don't have anything against Fords. My favorite car that I owned was a 1970 Boss 302. But, I've used Corvette parts to build a number of cars. That's what I was use t. so when I built my Cobra I went with all C5 Corvette drivetrain and suspension.
Good luck with your engine change.

When getting geared up to build my car was going to use a 454 Chevy till a Ford guru convinced me the car would sell better with a Ford engine. Same guy convinced me to go with the 460. I have never built anything with resale in mind that by itself adds limitations.
Any well built project will sell despite all you hear from the naysayers.

True. There is an a$$ for every seat but if you want to do a Cobra replica correctly and stay true to what you are replicating there is no other way except 260, 289, 427 or 428 FE. Period.
Next.

You forgot 390, Flip Top, and the prototypes first done in England in something like 221 cubic inch engines? You know just to stay true.

I think that would pretty much go without saying, but my guess would be out of all the Cobra replicas on the road these days, the ones being absolutely true to what they are replicating probably don't amount to more than 5-10%.

The more I read these responses the less they mean because of who they come from. Single minded at it's extreme, thankfully we have the freedom to pursue our own paths.
Why do we spend so much time trying to convince each other who's ways of thinking are correct. We are still talking replicars.

To the politically correct I wouldn't expect my comments to mean anything. To the politically correct its all warm and fuzzy and free exchange of ideas and its "all wonderful" when right and wrong is black and white. Here it's black and white.
Political correctness is crap and is in large part responsible for where our country is today on more counts than you can shake a stick at. You can take your political correctness and ...well ..
Yes, by all means. Go down your own path and pursue it to the extreme. Pursuing the Chebby option for power in a car that is supposed to replicate a Shelby Cobra is certainly going down a path but its a path going the wrong direction.
Where does it stop. Might as well use a VW chassis. What about Pontiac power? Chrysler Hemi power? Yeah. That's cool. White walls. Very classy. Digital gauges, bucket seats with head rests. Its all good!
The idea of a "replicar" is to replicate last I checked. Otherwise it's not a replicar is it? Its a ???????? But hey, its your interpretation so it must be beautiful.
