I'm more concerned with the fact that 7 out of 8 cars at any intersection/traffic lite are foreign--and none of them are chevy or ford powered----------at least in the pick ups and vans with ladder racks and work boxes those percentages change to ford, chev and dodge-----------
Oh, and when peeing keep the wind at your back!!!

I had a 1978 Pontiac Sunbird. At 72k miles, a piston let loose and it lost compression in one cylinder.
I also had a 1977 Toyota Celica with remnants of a body, but a good running engine at 145k.
The Toyota engine went in the Sunbird. Probably the best running Sunbird ever made. I drove it for at least another 60k and sold it.

Before you get too 'wrapped around the axle' about all those 'foreign' cars, take a look at the linked infographic published by Car and Driver magazine ( A Graphic Representation of What's Really "Made in America" - Feature - Car and Driver). It clearly indicates that, when it comes to North American content, the Ford (60%), Chev/GMC (61%) and Dodge/Ram (70%) pickups have less than Toyota Tundra (80%), Toyota Camry (80%), Honda Accord (80%), and Honda Odyssey (75%). There are many other examples of 'foreign' cars with much higher NA content than the domestic models they compete against. Food for thought.
It's clear to see the nameplate and its origins don't necessarily provide any meaningful information as to where it's made and whether it is truly a 'foreign' or 'domestic' car.

Wow - interesting. I think most are cognizant of the global nature of major manufacturing, but I for one never realized it applied to such a great extent in the US auto industry. Toyota Tundra "more American" than Ford??? What's next?
